The previous reviewer mentioned the patterns, what they did not mention was the discounted price on the patterns - they have racks and racks of patterns that are only $1 each. A pattern 'garage sale' if you will. I have also been really impressed with the products available here - there's a lot of cotton/calico for quilters, upholstery wieghts for costuming and home decor, supplies like boning and drapery weights. Also trims and tassles for decorating. Be sure to say hello to the cat when you're there too!

The name of the store might be misleading - it does carry a huge supply of buttons - I daresay the best in Boston -- but it also has one of the best selections of trims that I have found in the Boston area. Whatever you're looking for, they have a wide variety of colors, materials, widths and weights of trims. Whether you're looking to accent your window treatments, throw pillows, lampshades, any home decor; you will find something to suit you. They also carry many magazines & instructional books about handicrafts and decorating to inspire you. The staff is generally friendly, and will give you personal attention if you need assistance. Additional stock includes yarn, knitting/crochet supplies, needlepoint, wedding decorations, notions, thread...Oh yes, and take a look at the buttons :)

Sew Low specializes in picking up remnants, discontinued products, an overall interesting selection of goods. In addition to numerous fabric goods in every weight and construction, they also have a good variety of sewing supplies, patterns, and trims. Some parts of the store are dimly lit and it can be hard to tell the true color of the fabrics, but for the price you really can not beat this place. It's especially good for browsing - you leave yourself open to possibilities, and you will find something unusual that will make you do a creative project!

I found this place when I was commissioned to make a wedding dress. The bride knew about it, and insisted we go there to find her unique fabrics that would make up the pallate of her dress. I was amazed at the selection of fabrics here - bolt after bolt of colorful, stylish, and unusual imported goods. They also offered to special order anything that we needed additionally, and had multiple samples on hand. I have since returned many times for other home decorating projects; upholstery, drapes, pillow covers, etc.

This store has a variety of items, from the household 'pretties' in the first floor to paints, tools, light bulbs, and hardware goods in the basement. In my basement improvement, I needed a lot of miscilaneous hardware and lighting supplies - Tags had both. They also run great promotions - I was able to pick up a space heater (needed in winter!) for only $10.
