It was hard to determine what the problem was because the stove was working but not holding the pre-heat temperature. He was pretty sure it was the heating element and had brought one with him but the visual inspection appeared that all was okay. Subsequently it did (2 days later) fail and he had to return. Which he did and replaced the element and gave us a full credit for the first service call. Very happy with the way Sam conducted himself throughout the procedure. Sam is a first class individual.
