Have hired this company the last two times (we get our tank serviced every 2 years) and have been very pleased. Gimli Septic Service is always reliable and can usually come within a day or two of calling. I especially appreciate that they have a good deal of hose so that they can keep the truck in the driveway and stretch the hose to the tank. Always looking to avoid any vehicles driving on our lawn. We will continue to call Gimli Septic Service in the future for all of our septic needs. One note, the price went from $90 in 2011 to $105 in 2013, but with the price of gas rising the way it has, it's no wonder. Must take a lot of fuel to run those trucks.

Lost use of our old well in May 2012, and asked around and was told to call Ford Drilling. When you don't have any water, it's pretty important that you get that problem fixed as soon as possible. Ford Drilling was able to come a few days after we called and had the new well drilled and pump installed in a day. They were polite and professional. My only small concerns were that due to our site limitations they had to drive their gigantic drilling truck all the way around our house, which left depressions in the lawn (beyond anyone's control) and there was a bit of miscommunication as we weren't told that they would not do a complete hookup of the new water system from start to finish. Meaning they wanted a separate electrician to come in and hook up the power to our new well pump afterwards. This is something we would have liked to know in advance as it took another day before everything was done and after going so long without running water, even an extra half hour is a nightmare. It would also have been nice had they done a complete cleanup of the displaced earth. A large mounding pile was left for us to level and seed. And the clay byproduct from drilling was sprayed all over a section of our lawn and quickly hardened to rock-like hardness and was impossible to remove.

Our house had an oil furnace when we purchased it. For insurance requirements we needed to have the oil tank (was in the basement) removed and a new furnace put in. We went with a local company, heard about them through my spouse's work as they did all the furnace maintenance there. They are actually located on the same road as us, so very convenient and they were recommended. They came in and had a look and gave us the estimate (which we rolled into our purchase price) and we were happy because they would do all the work required for the job: remove the oil tank and furnace, install new forced-air electric furnace and upgrade our power line into the house as we only had 120v and needed 240. It's an old house. The gentleman that came to have a look (Andy, who has recently retired) was very nice and he even tightened a leaky pipe for me when he was there. It's family owned, so his son Clayton has taken over, also very nice. They came in and got the job done in a day and had all electrical run very neat and tidy and cleaned up very well. A thoroughly professional job. I only docked them 1 point because they didn't come when they originally said they would and the job was a little delayed, but that wasn't a huge problem.

When we purchased our house the home inspector warned us the septic tank on the property was very old and would need replacing. A couple years after it was still working fine, but we decided to get on it in order to avoid any disasters. We called several local companies and went with Gimli Precast as the price was reasonable and they came recommended from local sources. This was a bad decision. First, they did not show up when they said they would to give us an estimate. At least a month after calling them we called again and got something like, "We came and had a look but no one was around." I work from home so I'm always home during the day. Anyhow, they finally came and gave the estimate and told us they'd get the job done within the month. This was probably June 2008. The job did not get done until the end of November 2008. In these months I called them several times and always got a similar response, "Soon." Nearing the actual time it got done they told me that they did not have access to a truck to haul away the old tank and other waste so it would have to sit there for the winter and they'd get it in the spring. I should have just canceled then (and multiple other times) but I didn't. They did come and drove all the way around our house with large machinery. Now even in late November the ground was not firm enough for all of this activity. They did the job, but their large machinery left HUGE ruts in our yard. One large truck (the truck they said they couldn't get?) got stuck and made an enormous mess! They also said they'd bring the septic tank lower and more level with the rest of the yard, but they didn't do that at all. So they left us with a large dirt mound on top, full of pieces of old debris and over 100 feet of very deep ruts in our lawn. Then had the nerve to demand payment right away. We paid but with the assurance that they would be back in spring to fix the damage. Can you guess what happened? Firstly I could barely get a hold of them. Finally I got them on the phone and they told us that he would come with a Bobcat to help out but they would not provide any fill, topsoil or grass seed as it was our fault for bringing them in. I told them that if they had told me that sort of damage was even remotely possible I would never have had it done. It devolved into an unpleasant argument and finally I decided to wash my hands of the company entirely. I didn't want them anywhere near my property again. We are still working to get our lawn repaired, but it is some major damage. I would never recommend this company to anyone. I only gave them 1 star because the septic tank does function.

This year we needed to have our garage re-shingled. The south side of the roof was in pitiful shape from the sun exposure and the shingles were peeling up. We'd see a few shingles scattered around the yard after every wind storm. Luckily it wasn't to the point of leaking yet, so we knew we needed a roofer. A friend recommended a family member who had started his own business in the last year or so. We called him up and got the quote, which seemed very reasonable and hired him for the job. The young man was very friendly and very professional, he showed up with a full crew to get the job done even though it was one of the hottest days this year. They did the entire job, ripped up the old shingles and put on the new ones. They were very quick and had the entire roof done in one morning. They had a large trailer to haul away all of the old shingles and waste and were very professional in their clean-up. Our garage roof looked a million times better after they were done (now we just have to re-paint it!). I wouldn't hesitate to hire this company again; in fact I plan to have them do the vinyl siding on our house.

We live in rural Manitoba and after a few wet years we started to notice rust/iron stains on our tub/sinks and coming out in our laundry. We contacted Aqua Sure from a personal reference and they were very pleasant to deal with. The gentleman came out to our home and ran some tests on our water and also checked our water softener at the same time to make sure it was operating correctly. No charge for this visit. He suggested the 'Iron Breaker' and gave us a quote. After some research into the options we decided that his system was the best option (no maintenance required) and his price was also competitive. We booked the installation and he came and installed it on time with great ease. The operation instructions were explained to us very clearly and the bill was exactly what the estimate had been. We happily paid and have been enjoying iron free water ever since. No more stained clothes, sinks or tubs!
