My wife and I were in the market for a new queen latex mattress. Like many, we went to all the big mattress stores and although we saw many mattresses we liked, the prices were much higher than we had budgeted for. After seeing all the great Homestars reviews on Ton Furniture, we decided to call and meet Andy after work in his showroom. The selections he had were similar to those in the big stores but the prices were much more affordable. Also, as we did not want a thick/high mattress, Andy was great in suggesting to custom design a latex/foam mattress with a comfortable quilted pillow top. After a few back and forth emails (which Andy was always prompt in responding), we finalized the order. The custom mattress took one week and he even delivered for free on the weekend. The mattress is extremely comfortable and exactly what we wanted. We would definitely consider Ton Furniture on our next bed and mattress purchase and recommend others to take a look at his showroom before purchasing anywhere else.

I purchased two bathroom vanities from Vision vanities and home decor in Mississauga. They were one of very few stores in the GTA that carried the unique sized vanities in the contemporary style I was looking for. Their prices are not the cheapest but was reasonable for the decent vanity quality they sell. This helped me save money instead of having a custom vanities made. My only complaint was with the delivery time. Although my vanity had to be cut a few inches on the sides to accommodate my alcove, I was told it should take no longer than two weeks. After a month and a lot of excuses (too busy, truck broke down, etc.) the vanities finally arrived. Despite the delay, I would still recommend Vision vanities to anyone looking for bathroom vanities and accessories. However, just be prepared to wait a bit longer if you need any custom work done.

After enduring a bad experience with my original contractor, I was very cautious moving forward on my partially renovated two storey semi. Using Homestars and word of mouth referrals, I consulted multiple top rated general contractors. As Lindsay contracting is fairly new compared to the other companies, it does not show up in the top list of Homestars results. However, the company name came highly recommended from John Oborne’s office of Oborne contracting. At first I was concerned of lack of experience (being a newer company) however, after speaking with John (who has years of experience but is always booked months in advanced), I eventually contacted Lindsay contracting and received a quote from them as well as three others general contractors. On my first meeting, Damian Lindsay (owner) and Roy (his partner) were the only contractors who came with a camera and took pictures which was a pleasant surprise. To me, this meant business and they wanted to provide an accurate quote. Although Damian’s quote was not the cheapest of the bunch, my wife and I decided on going with Damian. At first, we had Damian finish off one of our bathrooms to get a feel on his workmanship and customer interaction. Damian’s communication was excellent calling us at least once a day while on the job. He was careful to ask us for directions before proceeding on anything he was not sure of. For example, height of light, locations of mirrors, dimensions of shelves in the tub niche, even height and location of paper holder and towel bar. This attention to detail made us confident we made the right decision to go with Lindsay contracting. When issues or obstacles did arise, Damian and Roy were quick to offer solutions. For example, although Damian’s tiler was fast, a section of tiles on one of the tub walls was not installed flat. Not sure if it was because the tilers were rushing or if the wall was not straight however, Damian and Roy took it off and made it right. Damian is also very easy going as it took a month longer than anticipated to have my unusual sized bathroom vanity ordered and delivered. Damian was fine with delays and even had to modify the vanity and counter top to fit evenly. I’m now extremely pleased to be moving forward with the rest of my renovations with Damian and his team.

This review comes a bit late as I wanted to observe how the insulation handled throughout winter. I’m glad to report the product they use is great and I’m happy I went with Zenic. They were quick, clean, and the brothers who came to blow in the 15” insulation in my attic were great. I would recommend Zenic Insulation to anyone.

This review comes a bit late as I had ProfessionalRoofers.com replace my shingles on my semi detached back in December 2011. Their estimator (Deigo) was very pleasant to deal with and provided the most comprehensive estimate package among the three roofing companies I contacted. Their price was very competitive and it is nice to know they work with name brand shingles that offer great warranties. ProffessionalRoofers.com must have the hardest working employees I have seen as they began work around 8am and did not stop (even for lunch) until about 5pm when the sun started to set. After a year, the shingles still look and perform great. My only complaint was the removal of a piece of old metal facia (which I had asked them to do) but that unexpectedly opened a gap into my attic. The foreman and inspector that day did suggest replacing it with another metal sheet but I declined as I wanted a proper facia board first, and then the metal facia afterwards. They did not recommend this and I’m sure this would’ve cost them another day on the site (to pickup and install material). As I knew I had a lot of other work pending (eavestroughs, soffit, etc) I told them it was fine and to leave it as is….it just would’ve been nice if the company took the initiatives to suggest having it done right and spend the extra time. I would've been fine with paying a bit more for the extras.

I found Gary from Century Aluminum on Homestars and gave him a call. Gary came to my house on time to give me the estimate on what I first thought would be a large project which included siding, rafter extension replacements, facia, soffit, eavestrough, and downspout. As someone who was going through a huge renovation, Gary understood my financial constraints and instead of telling me to replace everything as other companies did, he gave me alternatives to save money and address only the important tasks leaving the rest for later or offered other solutions (e.g, painting the siding instead of replacing it). Although the first attempted job date was a failure (not Gary’s fault but rather his co-worker’s personal emergency) he was honest and very apologetic and rescheduled me in as soon as he could. The second attempt also failed as Mother Nature did not co-operate but Gary was very customer focused and rescheduled me in the next day moving his other appointments. Gary and his crew were very pleasant and worked from morning to afternoon with very short breaks. Gary also fixed a chimney capping issue at no extra charge which had caused water leaks down to my basement for many months. His team were also very respectful of my property and ensured that all garbage was removed throughout the day. I’m glad I chose Gary and his team from Century Aluminum as the final work looks and works great. Let it rain!
