We had an awful experience with Marc and Sundeck Solutions Inc. A true test of character is when things don't turn out right. Simple one piece railing spanning post to post not installed square, looks bad. Never communicated to us that it would install that way and it never occurred to us that a professional would measure, plan, and execute an install in this manner. We met to voice our concerns about the inadequate fit and finish and got a very fast turnaround from being told face to face it was important and they wanted to make it right to an email saying they wouldn't be doing anything further and here is your invoice. We would not recommend and wish we didn't get referred to this company.

Company Response

We were contracted to build a custom one of a kind aluminum railing to replace an existing steel rail. This was a very unique deck, as it was over living space and our railing needed to be face mounted to avoid penetrating the membrane and causing water damage. We designed and built a new rail that mounted exactly how the existing rail mounted (Face screwed to the deck). Due to the deck being on the third story we had to contract a crane & operator to get the rail up for us. The railing was installed successfully and fit great. After following up with the client the next day, we were informed that they had concerns about the railing install. Making this a priority, I met with both Joel & Karen on site. They expressed to me that the right side of the rail was sitting in from the edge a little more than the left side. I politely explained that this was due to the original deck being out of square. They acknowledged the fact that this was the case but still wanted the rail to have the same profile on both sides. I recommend they rebuild the deck if that was the case. The clients then asked me to let them think about what they wanted to do, and they would contact me after the weekend. They wrote me on the following Tuesday and demanded the railing be taken down until they contracted someone to rebuild their deck. I replied and informed them that we would need to contract a crane 2 more times and also pay our installers for two more site visits. I expressed that we would gladly help them resolve this problem but I would have to ask them to cover the cost and clear up the current invoice with us as this process could take them months to complete as its a difficult project due to heights. Unfortunately, they replied to my email stating I was to blame for their rail being the way it was and that they did not want our help resolving the situation. They stated that they would leave me a homestars review, and while we greatly appreciate all client feedback, good or bad, I think that it’s important to note that the the safety of my clients, as well as the structural integrity of the building is our top priority. Unfortunately in this case we were not able to accommodate the client’s aesthetic expectations on a pre-existing structure.
At this point I feel like it is important that I stand up for myself and what my company believes in. I have been working very hard over the past 14 Seasons to run an honest business and not once has someone attacked my character.

Again, we really appreciate all client feedback and are constantly using the information to make improvements in order to enhance our clients experiences.
