Second story deck and storage space

We had a second story deck situated on top of an exterior storage space. The old pressure-treated wood was deteriorating and the floor/roof had been eaten away by carpenter ants allowing for leakage into the storage space and mold infestation into the existing drywall. We knew 8 years ago that we would eventually need to replace the deck but our carpenter ant infestations over the last few years brought the problem to the top of our priority list. So despite the poor economy we started interviewing contractors. We found John through Homestars. Very early in the process John impressed me with his knowledge, openness, and detail orientation. All of John’s references were outstanding. He was punctual and provided a reasonable estimate and options. John worked well with my architect and responded in a timely fashion to all questions and modifications that we encountered. John coordinated many of the trades that were needed for garbage removal, roofing, and aluminum railing and the work from demolition to build progressed on an even pace and was finished according to expected timeframes and budgets. I was consulted regularly on progress and new options that might deviate from budget. John and Paul did all of the demolition and carpentry work. Their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is obvious. No corners were cut (so to speak) and in some cases lots of extra time was devoted to improving the drainage of the new structure and ensuring its long term stability. They built the new deck to last. John and Paul and all of their sub-trades were pleasant and personable and honest people. I recommend John highly and would not hesitate to use him again.
