Assured Basements

We are thankful that we found Assured Basements to complete our finished basement. Weve owned our home since 2010 (when we first built it) and finally after years and years of the space remaining unfinished, we wanted to get it done in 2022.

I reached out to several companies, and Assured Basements was the ONLY company that responded to our inquiry and were so quick, and professional!

Mike came to our home, and viewed the basement space, and was able to give us a general baseline idea of the renovation cost right away. We then ended up having to put our plans on hold for a few months due to circumstances outside of our control, but as soon as we were ready to resume in early summer, Mike happily reconnected with us quickly, and we got things rolling.

From that point on, the process was quick! Within a few short weeks, Andrej and Hollis came to our home, and helped us plan the layout of our space; we visited the showroom and made all of the design selections. Shoutout to Caneisha who designed us an awesome wet bar!

Once construction began, the work ethic of Nathan and everyone that was in our space for the actual construction and renovation process was great. we found everyone responsible, and professional, and they made an effort to be as non-disruptive as they could when possible (as much as one can be during a renovation!) knowing that I work from home.

As homeowners we were able to follow along with each stage through the Buildertrend App that they use. We were appreciative of the teams responsiveness and transparency during the overall process.

With any post-renovation questions weve had, Ryan, Andrej, and Mike and the rest of the Assured Basements team have continued to remain responsive and professional with answers. We use our basement all the time now!

We are so thankful for the amazing team at Assured Basements. The sales manager Salik came to visit our house and was able to accurately scope and price our basement. When we were getting quotes we had about 6 different basement companies come in and alot of them were not even willing to come to the house and wanted to book zoom call. We as a family come from trades and have knowledge that you cannot price a contracting job through Zoom. Assured basement has raised the bar in their process, detail to attention, communication and softwares they use.

We were looking to renovate the basement of our new home, and contacted several contractors. It was difficult to get a timely quote from anyone and everyones schedule was too packed to accommodate our preferred timeline.

We contacted Assured after seeing an ad in a local flyer. They attended our home and generated a quote almost instantly after evaluating the space and taking measurements. We had some moisture issues to address before starting any work and they were helpful and supportive in suggesting how we could do that without rushing us to start work.

We had never done a home Reno and were nervous about such a large purchase. We received responsive transparent and professional service from start to finish.

Their work was well done and were just a great group of people. Caneisha was ever so helpful during the design process and really helped us through the process. Ondrej was spectacular and very knowledgeable.Ryan was also a great sounding board and convinced us to ensure the work was permitted to protect our Tarion. All the subs did great work . Really appreciated Dan our finisher going the extra mile too.

The job was finished weeks ahead of the communicated schedule. The best part of the experience was the client service and watching each stage.

We have been singing Assureds praises to friends and family and really are thankful to have such great extra living space.

My wife and I decided to finish our unfinished basement in our 10 year old home, we were a bit worried about finding the right Contractor and concerned about the timing of the project, we wanted it completed by Christmas and we sort of left it till the last minute to do so.
After investigating a few companies we decided to go with Assured Basements.
Wow, did we hit a home run. not only did they do an awesome job, there pricing was reasonable and they finished it a week and a half earlier than first projected, giving us more than two weeks to decorate and furnish
our amazing new basement.
Now we are ready to host our family Christmas.

This is a complete review from start to finish about my experience with Assured Basements. For those who are considering them, I aim to provide a detailed explanation of my actual and complete experience.

Our home has gone through many renovations over the years, the basement being the most recent. Medium-sized basement, 650 sq ft being turned into a bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and office area.

I can say from the outset that of all the contractors we've had, Assured Basements is the best one overall. Not perfect, but the best overall. I'll begin with Mike, the sales manager. When I called Assured Basements to get a quick estimate on the job, he took the time needed to discuss the job on the phone, and within a couple of hours, he was in Barrie, coming in from the GTA. He didn't mess around. He drew up plans according to what we might want. He is a real talker, which some will enjoy, some will not, but the man knows his job. He knows how to analyze a space and come up with accurate drawings. He also tries to close the deal quickly, and he does apply some pressure. This doesn't bother me because I know what I want, and I know it's his job, but it could turn some people off. Mike makes it clear that you should not waste your time looking elsewhere. In the end, he was right, in spite of us not being sure at first if we made the right move.

We did run into a glitch after we closed the deal and realized we needed a design change. Hollis (architect), Perry (supervisor) and Enrique (site manager) came to the home to help finalize our design, and they were professional. Again, these guys really know their jobs. They got everything revised on their laptops and we had a ready floor plan, down to the fixtures and wiring.

However, all of this pushed the cost up and we had to renegotiate our package. At this point, Ryan, the company manager, worked directly with us and in the end we got a fair price on the revised package.

When at the showroom to pick materials, Caneisha and Ryan spent hours with us choosing floors, doors, finishes, and getting the final choices updated. They use the Buildertrend app to plan and document everything. Everything is in front of you. Hollis and Perry also worked with us to update all drawings and make sure everything was clear.

Hollis is an expert in design and has a pleasant manner about him. Hes patient, thoughtful, and put us at ease.

Now for the construction. The project was estimated to take 8 weeks, but it really took 10. They got to about 95% done in 8 weeks, but a few parts took time to arrive and a few odds and ends needed fixing and those dragged on a bit. But basically, the crew was on schedule.

My most positive comments are reserved for Enrique. Enrique was the site manager and he was on site most days, either doing the work himself or managing subcontractors they brought in to do the electrical, etc.

Enrique is seriously good. He does good clean work, is responsive to requests, and ensures a high standard is maintained. If something doesnt look perfect, hell fix it. But more hes also a good guy. He was always so kind and sincere with whoever was at home, and was very respectful of the environment. He worked very hard, responded to all requests, and went the extra mile. Hes the one you will see and deal with the most, and he deserves full praise.

The basement came out looking beautiful. Everything we had imagined came to be reality, and overall the work met or exceeded our expectations. Ryan made sure we were satisfied. For example, the shower head was a bit low, being a basement shower, but they came up with an innovative lever to help raise the shower head so that tall people could fit underneath.

The bathroom/shower was the star of the show. The tiling work was great and the overall look and feel were more than we expected. The floors, baseboards, and doors were all installed perfectly, and the paint/finishing done to a high standard. The oak stairs look amazing.

Overall, Assured Basements delivered. In the end, they did everything they said they would do. Everything upfront and clear on their app, and aside from some delays, they were spot on with their estimates for everything. They could have finished the last few steps a bit earlier, but it's a small point.

In the end, we got a great basement at a very competitive price. While there can certainly be a few areas for improvement in the total experience, they still fully deserve 5 stars, and indeed they are the best overall contractor we have dealt with.

Got quotes from few other vendors before we settled with Assured Basement team bcz they were quick and efficient to get the ball rolling, from getting the contracts out to helping us with Financing and getting the project started on the dates we wanted them to.

Mike from sale team was great to work with, even Ryan who is the owner showed up to their office when we went there for material selection and helped us make the right choices as per our budget.

Work started on time and although few things could have been handled better from project management perspective, overall they were able to finish the project well.

Special mentions to Ahmed, Shane and I think Derek for their good work.

Overall good team to work with however there are always room for improvement.

We decided to finish our basement and we absolutely love it! We initially got 3 quotes and Assured Basements was by far the best. The sales rep came to our home and spent a lot of time measuring the space and creating a drawing. Other companies did Zoom, which was fine, but one company wanted us to measure the basement ourselves and do a drawing etc. That seemed like way to much time and work. The quote from Assured was pretty accurate - except we ended up adding some upgrades, widened the hall at the bottom of the stairs, and moved the HRV unit. No regrets at all - was worth the extra cost for the finished product!

There were a lot of finishing options in the show-room. I liked how a lot of the modern finishes were already included in the base price. The bathroom, for example, was all included and we just bough our own mirror. The flooring we upgraded to Cortex as it looked so much better than the base vinyl product. It was approx 4k extra, but it looks amazing - I like it better than our hardwood upstairs! When the process began, it was very quick and I was surprised how quickly and efficiently things were done. The workers were nice and courteous. Things seemed to slow down towards the very end, but I was impressed with how the time-line was pretty on par with what we were told. We opted to do the tiles for the fireplace to our upstairs one as the wall perimeter around the TV and fireplace is pretty small in the basement. So we are just waiting to get that done. We opted to hold off on doing the wet-bar, but have all the rough-ins ready to go. This was to save cost and will do it in a year or two.

We purchased our fireplace separately as I found the exact same one for a few hundred dollars cheaper. I would suggest if you're looking to do a fireplace, then buy your own and have the workers install it. I found the same one from a store that was on sale. So it's worth looking into to save some money.

I would recommend Assured Basements and glad we got other quotes to compare, as we knew we made the right decision. Everyone was friendly and helpful and made sure we were happy with the final product. The architect really knew his stuff as well and the layout he proposed was far superior to other ones suggested from other companies.

Great company to work with - they do listen to customers. They fixed issues we were not satisfied with even if it entails a lot of work, and we appreciate that. They make sure we're happy with our basement and we are! Thanks to the whole team!

We recently had Assured Basements come in and do a shell solution for our basement. Andrej, Nathan and everyone we dealt with was very knowledgeable and professional. They kept us updated on all the work to be done, and finished in just 2 weeks. Plus they took the time to plan everything out and make sure it was up to code.

Because we had flooring that wasn't going to be replaced, and the painting/trim work is something we're okay with doing ourselves, the shell solution was perfect to save us some money.

We'd 100% recommend Assured Basements if you need a reliable and flexible company to finish your basement!
