Westcoast Modernscape

I have used Westcoast Modernscape for many projects over the past 5 years. Ray has always worked very hard to ensure projects run smoothly, providing top quality work on time. His workers are very skilled and professional. I would highly recommend Westcoast Modernscape for any project, large or small. Thank you Ray!

We are very pleased with the complete makeover of our front yard by Westcoast Modernscape. Bryce and Ray were very easy to work with and could be counted on to do what they said they would do. They came every day until the job was completed. Their work was completed to a high standard and they had good recommendations for materials and design aspects. If I needed work like this completed again, Westcoast Modernscape would be my first choice.

My experience with Ray, Bryce and Ian at Westcoast Modernscape was top notch. Our Strata Complex was in dire need of replacing a retaining wall which backed up to a green belt area owned by the City of Delta. Ray met with an arborist and park superintendent and provided a viable option on how to construct the wall over a root system of a large tree that had potential to affect the integrity of the retaining wall.

Bryce always had a fast email response to several questions I posed regarding the construction.

The workmanship and patience of these men even when a controversy presented itself (large stump) was second to none. Bushes and flowers were preserved in backyards as the project went forward.
This project was kept within the estimate as both Ray and Bryce salvaged several of our fence posts and constructed a partial panel to save our complex some money. This was very much appreciated seeing as our strata had several expenses this past year.

The cleanup was incredible and the guys preserved the green belt area by putting down topsoil and seeding in those areas where they had worked. A very professional job by hard working guys.
I would not hesitate to have this team back to our complex for further work. A job well done and nice men to boot! Strongly recommended.

Our front and back yard were in dire need of a complete overhaul after years of neglect and also with a limited usage due to being located on a hill. We initially engaged Westcoast Modernscape having been unimpressed with other contractors’ ideas and quotes. We were attracted to some of the images on their website and decided to meet with the owner Ray. When he came round, we shared our wish list with him and we liked how he listened to our key requirements and needs, but also offered alternatives to what we already had in mind. Ideas that we would never have thought of.

Some of his ideas were a little outside of our comfort zone. We are risk averse and were quite nervous about investing a large some of money into this project and it took a lot for us to give him the green light! However, Ray did everything he could to make us feel comfortable, even inviting us round to his house to see some of his ideas "in the flesh" and once an agreement was reached, we put all our trust in his team.

We are so happy that we did take that “risk”. The team were friendly, courteous and respectful of our property and Ray ensured his oversight throughout. We had a full gambit of things done including, (dying) tree removal, shrub and bush removal, old fence removal, retaining wall removal, levelling of the front and back yard aspects, new large raised deck, hot tub inset into the deck, in-ground trampoline (a huge hit with the kids!), a large tree-house, huge front and back lawns, huge, front, back and side “English style” lawns (fully irrigated), retaining granite stone walls handcrafted by a mason, full fence replacement front, back and side (with a unique modern style and downward lighting all around the garden) and night-lighting to spotlight our huge fir trees, other trees and the decorative granite retaining wall in the front yard.

Price-wise, Westcoast Modernscape are not the cheapest, but they are a very good example of a higher price point representing a higher quality and creativity. I would also point out that except in cases where we completely changed a requirement, Ray stuck flawlessly to every quote he provided at the outset.

We know that we ended up paying double what we had originally intended to invest before speaking to Ray, but we are certain that we are three times happier than we would have been with any of the other companies we spoke to and have absolutely no doubt that the same, if not more, value was immediately added to the value of our property. Every time we sit and relax out in our backyard, we admire the work that was done and thank our lucky stars we found them.

Frankly, the pictures here do not do it justice. I would have no hesitation recommending Westcoast Modernscape for any garden project, big or small where you are truly seeking to transform your outside space.

Bryce, Ray, and Ian created a functional and beautiful backyard for our family. Our yard is situated on a steep incline and was not usable space. Westcoast Modernscape leveled our yard, built retaining walls on three sides, laid sod, built a stone planter, built a composite patio, as well as stairs to our deck. We could not be happier with our experience with this company. The men are all professional, personable and extremely knowledgeable in their field. They always provided solutions for challenges in our space, and created a very functional yard. I would recommend them to anybody and hope to work with them again.

Ray and Bryce were awesome and we couldn't be happier with what we ended up. They are professional, friendly and very hard working. Of course, being in Vancouver, they worked in the blazing heat one day and in pouring rain a few days later. Nothing seemed to faze them. We were amazed how much work was done by just the two of them!

The front yard was completed removed and then replaced with turf and a sleek rock garden.
The back yard was also completely redone. Removed existing deck, concrete, grass and fence and replaced it with a custom built deck with planters, new concrete, new turf and a new fence. And they helped me install a basketball hoop too!

We could also tell that they take a lot of pride in the work that they do and it shows in the final product.

Highly recommend! We would definitely use them again but since we've already overhauled both the front and the back, we're not sure what else they can work on at this point...but if we think of something, they will be our first choice!

Ray and Bryce were excellent along with their helpers.
They installed a block retaining wall in the front and backyard. They are an experienced crew and completed their work in 2 days. I am very pleased with the work that they have done.

Our strata building is located in boggy ground and the pavers at our front entrance and on several patios needed levelling. Westcoast Modernscape made good recommendations about the type of gravel/sand to use for a more long-lasting solution, and the finished, levelled patios looked great. Perhaps even better, they were really responsive, prompt and friendly - no waiting for days/weeks for a response to an email. Would definitely recommend.

I appreciated how efficient, helpful and friendly they were when they repaired my broken fence. I would definitely recommend this business to others.

Bryce and Ray came and gave a soft-sell quote to remove an old, broken-up driveway. They provided their liability insurance certificate when asked. We interviewed two other contractors but decided to go with them.
The work was done in a very timely manner, clean-up was complete and they were great to work with. They anticipated that we would need power at the end of the driveway and suggested installing a conduit for that - good idea!
