Over a year later, I’m out a few thousand dollars, have incomplete work & have sustained property damage based on poor workmanship.
In winter, very late 2019 /very early 2020 he was hired to cover over my existing siding, cap my windows and add metal soffits & fascia. The job was supposed to done within a week, I am from out of town so I was unable to be at the property daily. I paid the deposit, & he provided some blurry photos of proof of work done, said it would take longer than expected as he had other jobs & asked for more money. I sent the money, the next week, nothing had been done & he asked for more money. I wanted to see what work had been completed so I made the trip & was VERY displeased.

-He subcontracted the job to someone else, any work started looks like a beginner attempted it. He later said that he no longer worked w/ him.
-They were very unclean w/ their work the entire property was littered w/ metal shards / screws & nails / beer cans / coffee cup / cigarette buts / packaging material
-The work is so badly executed & crooked that it’s causing damage to the building by funnelling water into the building & windows
- they cut off the window ledges / and into the skirting leaving raw wood exposed water to penetrate / be funnelled into windows / under the siding & on to the supports of the cottage
- The flashing is so wavy water is running behind the siding & down the wall from the drip ledge
-All (except one) exterior light fixtures were destroyed & I was left w/ exposed live wires poking out. After complaining about the wires, The one remaining light was put back up upside down.
-He broke one of my windows & left it (a hole about the size of a fist) open all winter
-the roofing nails used for the siding on the back of the cottage were so long that, they protruded through the wall approx 1/2 inch - through my tiled backsplash obviously cracking / ruining the tiled interior wall.
-they cut all my phone / internet lines coming onto the house & left the wires hanging

In short, every task is incomplete, they damaged and destroyed my property in the process & the parts that are started will need to be redone as they are so poorly done.

As we were already out a few thousands dollars, I asked him to fix / finish the work, he asked for more money. I had already paid more than half the agreed upon price, with less than half the work being complete. Despite saying he would finish the job, he then began ignoring my calls & emails & he has blocked me on Instagram. Summer, I saw him in person he agreed, none of the jobs he was hired for had been completed, he had taken my money & the remaining materials I paid for- he then said he would refund $1000 and finish the job. It’s summer 2021 now, he has not returned to finish the job or to refund any money or return the materials he took from me.

I strongly suggest finding someone else to do your work

Hired and paid deposit to have them come in and install steel roof siding and soffit on a new build, booked in for last week of October first week of November, confirmed by owner and asked for a deposit to hold the time slot. Rented equipment to be used by them while on site, Once framing was complete and passed informed them it was ready to go, said earliest he could be there was later that week on Thursday (told deposit would guarantee their full attention if in that time frame) but hey things happen weather etc, says he will be on site friday, no show ask says he was busy with an emergency job, says for sure will be on site saturday, then proceeds to spend the entire saturday ignoring phone calls and text messages instead of trying to explain why he wasn't showing up, message him to say I will be going with someone else as he's not living up to his promises and is lieing and feel I'm being ripped off, he gets upset and says fine and will return my deposit, instead blocks my number and any way to contact him. I strongly suggest finding someone else to do your work. I am out my deposit despite saying he would return it since he wasn't living up to his promises, and to flat out just ignore a customers calls and messages when you've told them you would be on site. Use extreme caution when dealing with Ryan and red heron contracting so you don't get ripped off like I did.
