From the very first communication we had with Steve, we knew we wanted Top Shelf Construction to work on our bathroom reno project. I had some previous experience in the construction industry and understood how important communication is to the success of a project, and Steve was outstanding here.

Because our project was in a condo, and it was our only bathroom, we opted to move out until our project was complete. Steve started on the date promised months in advance, and the project was completed on time, as promised. This was greatly appreciated as it made our living arrangement plans quite simple.

Steve provided many updates via photos and videos by way of text and email. Phone calls were kept to a minimum, but were made when necessary for the project. We visited the condo to check on our plants and sneak an extra peek at the progress and we were always impressed with how tidy everything was and how each step was on schedule as Steve explained it to us at the beginning. Very impressive.

Any obstacles were met quickly with a quick text or phone call where we were presented with options, discussed pros and cons of each option, and were able to make a quick, informed decision to keep the project on track.

We were thrilled with the finished project, especially our custom mosaic inlay. We knew the inlay would be a significant challenge for a tile setter because of the uneven tile pieces. Also, the layout of our bathroom allowed for a few different placement options. Steve took a great deal of time working with us on the layout and position of the floor tiles and mosaic, and the results were incredible. This certainly exceeded our expectations.

Steve was really able to demonstrate his understanding of our vision. As such, he was able to recommend some changes that elevated the finished product. From a small touch, like relocating the water shut-off to behind the toilet so it's now hidden, yet still accessible, to significant improvements like relocating out shower pot light to avoid shadows and adding a hinged glass door instead of the solid panel we first planned for. The light in the shower is fantastic, and the door feature is a very welcome upgrade for us.

Such a major and expensive project can often be overwhelming and scary. Steve gained our trust and put us at ease right from the beginning. His guidance through the 'getting the estimate' phase right trough to the finished product was exceptional. I would say we were more excited that nervous each day for the updates to come in, even though we were living off-site. Even more exciting, following the project on Instagram. It was fun to watch the videos that Steve put together, and they made the process extra special for us. We really felt valued, and that our basic white bathroom wasn't just a side project that was wedged into a busy schedule.

Five stars, two thumbs up, and a huge "thank-you" to Steve and his team for turning our depressing blue bathroom into our spacious, dream bathroom!!

A family member in the trades recommended Top Shelf, and we are so glad we chose them to do our bathroom renovation. Steve was very knowledgeable, and gave us a competitive quote. The job actually started early as we had gotten our materials before the date Steve gave us as the tentative start date, and he said he was able to start early which suited us well. Having a family of 5, and unable to use our main washroom, including the only shower in the house, wasn't fantastic, but he gave us a realistic timeline, and actually finished the job a few days early. The payments were spread out throughout the project and were clearly defined in the contract. Steve was respectful of our family and was great when the kids had questions, or showed interest in what he was doing.
Steve is great at what he does. The quality of his work really showed in the attention to detail. We chose to completely rip out the whole bathroom and start fresh. Every part of the renovation was done with excellent craftsmanship. Steve was great at communicating when a couple problems arose, and gave us great advice and options on working around the problem.
Overall, we're ecstatic with the work Steve did, and would recommend Top Shelf to anyone looking for a company to do any construction or renovation work. We will definitely look to work with Steve and his company again in the future when we have another project.

Would recommend Top Shelf Construction to anybody. Steven was very professional, finished the project ahead of time, very articulate explaining the work to be done and daily updates. Everyone from the plumber to the people tiling all finished on time, cleaned and delivered outstanding work. Absolutely love our new marble walk in shower! We would defiantly use the company again for future work!

We wanted a partial renovation on two of our bathrooms and were worried about what could go wrong. We reached out on Homestar's and got a response from Steve at Top Shelf. We have no regrets and came away very satisfied. Steve came across very professional from the start. He is an excellent communicator and was proactive in keeping us informed on progress. He worked clean and neat as could reasonably be expected. His work was excellent and free of defects. He also had lots of useful suggestions and listened very closely to our needs and wants. Some extra unforeseen work was handled fairly. Overall we had a terrific experience with Top Shelf.

Our 1960's era bungalow was recently renovated by Steve at Top Shelf Construction Inc. We replaced windows, much of the plumbing and wiring, installed a new heat pump/air conditioner/furnace and totally removed and rebuilt the kitchen, moving walls and door locations. The entire project was managed, coordinated and completed expertly by Steve. Our only job was to pick designs and colours and get everything packed out of the way for the construction work. Steve provided thorough and clear details and estimates in writing throughout the renovations, started when he said he would and finished the job within the projected completion time frame.

Steve is respectful, knowledgeable and passionate about his work. Steve provided excellent communication with daily updates through video and zoom calls that allowed us to make decisions in real time without having to be at the site. We now have a modern, updated and efficient home and we are very pleased with the results.

We found out about Steve and Top Shelf Construction Inc. through a family member who had similar renovations completed at their home. One of the primary reasons why we had not done renovations sooner was because we simply didn't know who to trust to get the job done right. Because we knew first hand that Top Shelf Construction Inc. was capable, reliable and trustworthy, we decided to finally move forward and get a long overdue renovation underway. We contacted Steve, discussed what could be done and from there refined the scope of the project to where detailed estimates could be made. There were some adjustments along the way because of changes/upgrades we requested, but in the end the final costs were very close to the estimates.

We now see other areas in our home that we are considering updating and when we decide to go ahead with that work, we will definitely be contacting Steve at Top Shelf Construction Inc.

We are very pleased with the quality of work and attention paid to detail by Steve and the sub contractors who worked with him. They were all punctual and everyday the work area was well cleaned from dust and debris when they left.

Taking on a main bathroom renovation in the last month of pregnancy is not recommended. However our concerns quickly eased after the first week of Steve working in our home. After consulting with multiple contractors (4), we ultimately choose him because we felt he was a strong communicator, straightforward about potential surprises we might encounter (as you never know what might be behind the walls), how to resolve problems, and potential additional cost. After having completed the job, we could not be happier and relieved that everything went smoothly. The team of subcontractors also did great work and Steve would inspect the work afterwards to ensure quality. We felt our satisfaction was always a priority. Despite the renovation taking place, we felt minimal inconvenience in our daily living as he ensured the space was tidy and livable after each day.

An additional note, our baby nursery was right across the renovation site and he always took great care by taping the edges of the door. Without us thinking about this/asking. These small details speak to his overall attention to detail throughout the process.

This is our first experience with renovation and Steve made it very smooth. After receiving a few quotes, we went with Steve because he spoke to all details of the project during the consultation and presented us with various options.
