Basement was poorly renovated and caused mould issues

Basement Renovation review in St. Catharines

Im a real estate investor who hired Golden Horse Shoe Living in August 2021 to renovate my basement in St Catharines. Without my knowing, they decided to not include insulate the basement dry walls. 2yrs later Im now dealing with mould issues because the drywall was not insulated. Im now forced to pay $15k for a contrator to redo the drywall and properly insulate the basement. When I contacted them for help they dismissed me saying I shouldve known the basement would not be insulated. Im not an expert so theres no way I wouldve caught this, I trusted them to do good work. This is just poor quality and dishonest work. I do not recommend to anyone, stay away.

Washroom of my dreams

WOW, what a team and impeccable workmanship!

Let me just start with I have been undergoing renos for the last 5 years and have had all sorts of teams and headaches. To the point I had swore I would never under go renos again.

GHSL were a blessing from the moment we met them. They were so proffessional and straight up right from the beginning. They gave us all our options and cost ESTIMATIONS from the get go. Their team was so professional and respected our home. Their style sense and workmanship is impeccable. They gave me a washroom I thought I would only have in my dreams. From heated floors to the amazing shower. I'm still speechless to this day when I walk in to my oasis. Their attention to detail is insane. Even if I nitpick I cannot find any issues or things I would change.

I would highly reccomend this team, they work hard, get the job done and do it right. The most important thing is they know what they are doing. The fact that they have a design sense as well, is the cherry on top.

GHSL you are amazing and thank you for the professionalism and amazing workmanship.

Although this company did fairly nice work they did not complete the job in my house. They said that they would finish but then just stopped communications completely. They were not very professional and I would not hire them again.

Trusted this team: they let us down badly.

Niagara Falls

We hired Jesse and Paul to renovate our triplex. The brief was simple: renovate the 3 apartments and the home infrastructure. This was a big job and the house had many challenges. Jesse told me the job would take from Nov 2020-Jan 2021. During the job itself the team was largely absent. The work was at a standstill most of the time. Id visit the site then again a month later and nothing was done. After 17 months of this, I fired them. Theyd done a poor job of 2 units - painted over peeling wallpaper; installed a crooked staircase, stained floors, popcorn plaster left in place and painted - and the third unit wasnt even halfway complete. We lost a yearscrevtal income. The City fined us because the job site was so neglected. The entire wreckage from all the demolition was stored in our garage.A gut wrenching experience.
