Our basement wreaked after the sewer backed up. Shield Restoration attended quickly, took care of the contaminated area, and odors from it.
The reno people, quickly and efficiently replaced the flooring, taking the greatest care for our belongings. The work performed was very professional and detailed. One morning recently, I came downstairs and noticed a significant amount of water pooling in front of my dishwasher and pushing out onto the rest of my main floor (hardwood and tile). Without hesitating (after turning off the water of course), I called Steve at Shield Restoration to assess the damage and to get started on the emergency flood work.

It didn’t take long for Steve to determine what was required and almost immediately large fans, dehumidifiers, and other equipment were placed strategically in my kitchen, family room, and basement to minimize and mitigate the damage.

Once Steve was satisfied that the moisture in the floor was eliminated, the equipment was removed and he arranged for his handyman to arrive on site and re-install the baseboards that had been removed during his initial assessment.

Without Steve and his fast action, this flood would have almost certainly resulted in a sizeable insurance claim and a significant headache to live through the repair work. He and his team were responsive, knowledgeable, and considerate throughout the process. They also followed all necessary COVID-19 safety protocols. I would recommend Steve and Shield Restoration to anyone dealing with flood/fire damage.

Very thorough and professional work. This review is about a year late and I can state that there have been no problems that have shown up with the work in that time period. We had a wall-mounted toilet that developed a leak behind a wall which was only detected when it finally soaked through a drywall ceiling below it. There was significant surface mold on rafters. In another spot a roof leak was a chronic problem and we needed to open the ceiling to see what was what. This company arranged to inspect and estimate on the project very quickly. Fortunately nothing structural needed replacement, but we did find an electrical issue that required the restoration to pause for a bit. There were some minor issues with an extra charge that was withdrawn after we discussed it, but other than that we are very satisfied with the work.

After sewer backup in basement, the cleaning was done quickly and we never needed to leave our home. This was very important since I was ill. While the restoration was delayed somewhat because of the Covid-19 problems, it was nevertheless done very well by all the workers using isolation procedures and we are very pleased with the results.

Great, professional and friendly communication while I was freaking out about a flood in my apartment. They had a super prompt response time on a Saturday morning to downtown Toronto. I would highly recommend them and would call them again (though hopefully I won’t need to).

We had a massive sewage back up a few weeks ago that flooded our entire finished basement. Within an hour of calling Shield they had a crew on site pumping out the dirty water. It was an incredibly stressful situation for us, and they were able to take a lot of that stress away, which was very appreciated! They worked so quickly we were able to save most furniture and our new furnace. In under a week, they completed the full clean up (removal of all baseboards, lower sections of drywall, subfloors, etc) and also had a very detailed quote for the restoration to us.
