Skyline Moving & Storage does not yet have a profile on Homestars, so I will be pleased to write the first one. I used this company to move from Toronto to Halifax
Overall I had an OK experience. To my relief everything arrived at the destination and nothing was missing or broken (that I have yet been able to determine.)

First, my original contact was a female in the office.
She was very quick to respond to emails and answer questions. However, once I sent my deposit that was the end of the emails. This left me feeling insecure about my decision and that I had to chase them up for details. Each time I called, especially just before delivery what sounded like the same girl, would always say i have never spoken to you before. And there is one girl who repeatedly calls me hun. Please correct this as it is not professional.

This company does not send confirmations with details. They fail to respond to emails until you call them. This is a business practise that must be improved. They tend to answer the phone without introducing the business name, and sometimes goes straight to voicemail with no voicemail set up. I have had to call their Calgary number several times, but this ends up at the Toronto office anyway?

Their website is very basic and generic looking, half the links dont work and neither does their testimonials section. I could not locate them on any review site and they dont have any reviews on the BBB.

They do not provide enough information to leave the customer confident about the decision. I asked on three occasions for reviews or references for completed jobs and never was provided this info even when promised.

They have a link on the BBB: bbb.org/kitchener/busine…

This file details another company owned by the same owners, Blue Ocean and they have horrible reviews and an F rating on the BBB. This left me feeling worried and scared.

But, the goods arrived in the same condition I left them in. Nothing broken, nothing damaged, nothing missing.

As everything was being unloaded from the truck, I checked it off on the sheet and ticked off each tag number. One item was listed twice, and somehow one number was on two different boxes but still everything seems accounted for.

Everyone has a different experience, mine was generally positive with a few negatives that irked me. I am happy that my gut feelings did not prove true.

The pickup went smoothly, the movers were friendly and quick.
The company was accomodating in changing my delivery from going out immediately to being stored for the full six weeks of complimentary storage.
The company was also accomodating in changing the delivery address once i got my actual place.

They called me to say the shipment would be delivered between 1 and 2 the next day. The next day came and 2pm arrived and passed without incident. I called to find out what was wrong and was told there was a delay with a previous delivery which I understand.
I was told by one of the movers that the company overloaded them with work which unfortunately is not my fault but became my problem because I took 3 hours off of work to accomodate their arrival.
They agreed to deliver the next morning.

I received a call just before 8am on Saturday morning stating they were here, I went downstairs and let them in. Our building managers arent available on weekends so we used the elevators without service mode and it worked perfectly. I was happy with their demeanor and efficiency. At first I was thrown off because they locally rented a u-haul to unload shipments from their main truck to deliver out to customers.

Aside from the communication issues I would say they are an okay company. But please take my review as a review because one person did say that I was one of the lucky ones.

PRO TIP:
Go to Home Depot / Rona / UHaul and spend money on boxes. Use Heavy duty boxes for heavy and fragile items. Also, using many boxes of the same size, makes it easier for them to transport and arrange, and all boxes that look the same make it a lot less likely to lose items.

I printed out adhesive sheets with my last name, address for delivery and phone number on it and attached it to every box. I wrapped all my furniture in Saran Wrap and also put a label on each as well.

Things happen and go wrong. Do your homework and research.

Approximate cost of services:
