Condo kitchen reno

I hired Jason to completely re-build a new kitchen for my small one-bedroom condo downtown that had become very worn and dated after 20 years. He did a great job in meeting my objectives for a new kitchen in terms of look and budget.

This reno included all new cabinets, countertops, sink, and tile backsplash (new appliances ordered separately and are still back-ordered at time of this review due to COVID). Jason did an excellent job in sourcing cabinet and countertop materials that met my lower budget. I supplied the sink, faucet, door handles, and backsplash tiles. He even had a great suggestion to expand the width of the narrow space compared with the old kitchen.

It's important to keep a few things in mind, especially if you are in a downtown condo. Be patient with the overall timeline. It did take a month overall for a small condo. There can be delays with waiting for materials to be made, especially during COVID. Being in a condo adds additional complexity with rules, booking elevators and finding parking.

Thanks again.

Interior reno

Very disappointed in the service from Jason. I had to constantly chase him to get him to show up to work on my house. After about 8 months in to my 12 week project he finally disappeared for good without finishing the job. The quality of the work he did was average.

hello

i am surprised to see this since today this occurred over 18 months ago

i am sorry you feel that way

i dont want to escalate but do feel the need to respond

just to be clear, 2 months into your job was the beginning of the pandemic and a LOT of things shutdown and it was a little difficult to make things move at the normal pace.
and even at the end the delays and supply issues were still there if not even worse.

I had to think about what it is that was not completed and to my recollection it was some flashing around the outside if the window and replacing a broken tub filler.

there were 2 radiators to be installed but you told me somebody else was going to do that

i am NOT in the habit of disappearing...i am not saying it is anyone elses fault other than mine, but i have not heard anything of this job since sometime in early summer of 2020...im not perfect and occasinally, things fall thru the cracks...had i heard anything i am 100 percent sure i would have resolved it...but ultimately, I AM to blame for dropping the ball

just to be clear

you live in a 120 year old house with a badly sagging frame and foundation. the kitchenfloor was 3 inches out of level across 25 feet...we fixed that...quite well
we gutted the existing kitchen and bath, moved a wall, built a new powder room, where there was none, redid the laundry stack built a new tub and shower stall. custom vanity, brand new cuatom kitchen, leveled the ceiling which was also 3 inches out from one side to the other. , new floor, drywall, paint doors, casing, counter tip. backsplash, two new windows. new lines for your radiators, new lines for towel warmer, i stalled appliances. new lighting....and more..

oh, also. you had told me you were planning on immediately redoing the plaster in the other rooms. yourself..after we were gone and not to worry about patching the ceiling where we had to cut to do some work

so i hope that is not part of what you are thinking was not complete

I dont believe anything i said is incorrect

i was under the impression at the time that you were happy with all the work

so...to summarize...

i am deeply sorry that a few items were overlooked and forgotten about
i understand that there is obviously a lingering problem as you felt it necessary to post 18 months later

i always seek to learn and do better and find ways to provide the best service to people..life is a journey and i will find ways to assure small items dont get lost in the shuffle..thanks

Major house reno

Jason did an great job for us. The reno was essentially a gut of our main floor. It included tearing down load bearing walls to open up the house, redoing our entire kitchen, replacing/refinishing floors.

He planned the job well, gave us good advice on the design, and cared about the details. Jason proved himself to be honest, reasonable, and focused on quality. We're extremely happy with the final result and would strongly recommend Lewis Kitchen and Bath.

Bathroom Reno & Install 2 Bathroom Ceiling Exhaust Fans

Jason is kind, professional and did an excellent job etching and repainting our old ceramic tiles and porcelain tub. However, he also installed two new bathroom ceiling exhaust fans with new roof vents, one of which leaked onto the floor every time it rained. Unfortunately, Jason’s roofer was unable to fix this leak so we had to hire a different roofer at our cost to make the necessary repair.

hi melodie
thanks for your update. I am sorry you felt it necessary to hire somebody else. i accept your input and decision but just to be clear on this issue for the purpose of the review...when first notified, we promptly sent the original installer to look and do what was necessary to address issue. He did, according to him...unfortunately, the water issue was not fixed..when brought up the next time I very promptly sent a different licensed and competent roofer to fix problem....he showed up the next day and did what he felt was necessary to address issue, at my expense..which I paid for...

unfortunately water appeared again...I discussed with your son and felt that the issue may be the result of something else and I would address it but could not get there for at least two weeks as it would require me to crawl into the attic...I was very clear that I would do it but was swamped and not near by and could not for at least two weeks...

it was less than 10 days when your son texted me to tell me that someone else was hired to address the issue..
this is totally your prerogative and I accept your decision..
I just want to make it clear that I was more than accomodating at my expense and was very willing to do what was needed.

I take my roofers word that the vent should not be leaking and I remain convinced that it is a separate issue..of course I could be wrong. I hope that the issue does not return after the fourth attempt at that one vent

I wish you all the best

Garage Demolition and Rebuild

Jason was highly professional as we worked with him this year to knock down and rebuild our residential garage. He was knowledgeable about dealing with the city for permits/inspections and managed the project actively throughout. He was a proactive communicator and highly responsive via text and email as different decisions needed to be made throughout. He even tolerated our hyper puppy :). We are happy with the final product - the garage looks great inside and out. The one piece that wasn’t super is that the original estimated timeline was not met; we expected to wrap in August but didn’t wrap until late October.
