B.A.S.E. Excavations

Called this company B.A.S.E. excavations in North Bay, Ontario to assess a flooded basement. He convinced us that the only fix was to have the weeping tile redone. Signed Contract and gave deposit on a Friday evening. During the remediation process I discovered the flooding was caused by a blocked drain pipe. Attempted calls on Saturday and Sunday but his voice mail is full and he screens his calls so he didn't answer. Alternate 877 number on the contract and his website leads to a "win a free cruise" number. Finally got hold of him on Monday morning and told him that the cause was a blocked pipe. He still expected me to get all the weeping tile done even though it was not the cause, nor would it have fixed the blocked drain pipe. I question his expertise on assessing wet basements. I cancelled the contract and he did not return $1,150 of the deposit claiming he already hired people. Odd he doesn't answer his phone all weekend and still hired people? Did he give these imaginary people some of the money he unethically took from me? Learn from my mistake and stay clear of this one. Sometimes it takes years to determine character.....just cost me some money.
