Don't let them in your home!

Review of Titan Renovations – Whitby
Michael (owner)

DON’T LET HIM INTO YOUR HOME (He doesn’t take responsibility for anything)
To this date, 1 year later the job isn’t complete and MOST importantly, he owes us money.

Scope of project: kitchen, main floor hallway and powder room, an easy 6 - 8 week job according to Michael.

He didn’t supervise the job at all; he only came to the house a handful of times as we later found out.
There were so many occasions that his crew left the entire house unlocked at the end of the day, despite notes at each door and speaking to Michael.

There wasn’t any sort of cleanup done at the end of each day and our garage became a disgusting dumping ground, as well as the basement. Michael wouldn’t deal with it so his associate brought in 1 800 Got Junk to deal with the garage and the basement disaster they left.

In the first day of demo the amount of damage to areas NOT related to the reno due to carelessness was unacceptable. Michael came the next morning to see the damage and said, “don’t worry we’ll make it right”, I treat every client’s home as if it were my home”. This go to phrase became the theme of the entire project as not a week went by without a significant disaster. In fact, his team was so inept that the scope of the project grew, at his cost, because of the endless issues, which he blamed on us.
The work ethic and skill set of his tradesman, Frank, who was supposed a master tile setter among other skills was substandard:
Frank was A MASTER OF NOTHING AND DESTROYER OF EVERYTHING as he also did the drywall and painting. ALL the work he did, except the flooring, which still hasn’t been dealt with, was redone by outside trades because we refused to allow him back in the house.
• Poor tile cuts, therefor chipped tile that was then laid
• Variations in tile spacing and elevation
• Grout cracking within a couple of months due to incorrect mix of grout
• Extremely poor transitions at thresholds
• ½” wide grout where he didn’t cut small pieces to butt up to all door frames
• Crooked cut tiles and poorly installed aluminum strip at step up from vestibule to hall floor
• No planning of tile pattern resulting in many of the same tile laid side by side making for a strange looking floor
• Some of the wood strips don’t even reach the baseboard…cut too short.
• Poor drywall and painting skills, painting areas that weren’t in the scope of the project.
When we tried to discuss with Michael these issues the answer was always the same…you chose cheap product, so it is your fault. Not the case as verified by other independent professionals.
Frank cracked every kitchen ceiling drywall seam after painting, Mike wouldn’t address this for 5 days. We were upset and he told us we shouldn’t have lived in the house for the reno, I told him he would have hidden the ceiling issue. He didn’t answer that.
Tried to blame incorrect placement of pot light holes cut on us when we specifically indicated our needs at the outset. SOMEONE NICKED ALL THE POT LIGHT WIRES, HE WAS TOLD ABOUT IT AND NOTHING WAS DONE UNTIL
THE ELECTRICIAN REFUSED TO INSTALL THE LIGHTS BECAUSE OF THIS. If the electrician had done the installation despite the nicks, we never would have known and could have had a house fire. FRIGHTENING.
We had to delay the installation of the cabinetry several times.
This saga is several pages long, however, this is the gist of it. A disaster from beginning to end. Info has been forwarded to Brian Bauemler, as he has been Brian Bauemler approved. It turns out they have suspended him and are investigating.

Approximate cost of services:
$40,000.00
