Oneway Structural & Construction

We had an excellent experience working with Oneway. They helped us to formulate the best plan for an unused area in our house, came up with several different options to fit within our budget, and delivered excellent results. They are very trustworthy (they even did the work in our house while we were on vacation), professional, and left the space clean & tidy everyday. We would definitely use this company again!

We contacted Oneway in early Sep 2021 for the removal of a loadbearing wall to expand our main floor area. Wesley and Deila were very responsive at the start and other than a few delays with getting the structural engineer in, everything seemed to be going well. We paid them a 50% deposit (~$7500) We were told by email in late November that the permit application had been submitted to the city planning office and that it should not take long. While we had originally been told about 6 weeks (late Nov), we acknowledged that there would be delays until early in the new year due to COVID. In early January 2022, we inquired as to the status of the work and were told that they were waiting for the city's approval. In late January, with no updates forthcoming from Oneway, I went directly to the city and they stated that the permit was ready and they were just awaiting the payment of fees. What was disturbing was that they said the permit application was only submitted to the city after I had checked with Oneway in early January, and not in November as they had told us. We requested some clarifications, especially given these false statements, and never heard from them. We eventually decided to give up and sent them requests for the contract to be cancelled and for our deposit to be returned, by voicemail and email. All we ever got from them afterwards was an email stating that while delayed, they were finally up and running and expected our work to be done in the May-June timeframe as if nothing happened. We replied, pointing to our previous messages, that we no longer had any trust in them due to false statements and that we wanted the contract cancelled and deposit returned. No response. We eventually hired a laywer who sent them a formal request and again no response was received. We are now preparing a small claims case to have it adjudicated.

P.S. Get a physical address just in case. Neither their website, their paperwork, nor their business licence has one. The only thing they have is a rented PO Box at a self-storage facility here in Ottawa. Makes it a bit hard to serve papers.

We were fortunate to have found a company like Oneway for our remodeling project. They have been head and shoulders above any other contractors we've worked with. All of the folks genuinely take pride in the work they do. The owner has been amazingly patient and listened to all of our concerns. All of our concerns and questions were quickly and fairly addressed. I am consistently impressed with the attention to detail that the crew give to everything they do. They make sure that everything they touch is done right, is solid as a rock, and looks good in the end. They listen to what you want but make adjustments based on their deep experience, knowing what produces the best result. They were able to anticipate my needs and adjust based on the age of the house, making sure that things were done right and up to code. I wouldn't hesitate to work with them again in the future.

I super recommend this company.. everyone was great, I absolutely love my new open space.

They gave me plans to remove my wall for 10k, I paid 50% upfront. Once the wall was opened up the plans they gave me clearly would not work. They did not account for the mechanical systems in my walls. Since I paid upfront $5k I am trying to get my money back but they are ignoring all of my calls and emails.

I just wanted to say thank you everyone at Oneway. It was such a pleasant experience working with them. Super professional and caring for our home. We will be renovating our first floor with them within the year, very excited.

I had to take the time to share our experience since it's so challenging finding good and honest companies now a days.
This is by far the best experience my husband and I had with a construction company.
We initially contacted Oneway to perform a small renovation project which led to an almost whole house reno.
We contacted them as a friend of mine had referred this company. They quickly gave us the attention to get the ball rolling and were very informative and passionate.
We consulted with at least 5 other companies; even though Oneway wasn't the cheapest, we had a good feeling about them, and our feelings weren't wrong. There were some challenges during the pandemic and some delays in scheduling and materials however the wait was worth the whole while.
Oneway took care of all planning, permits, inspections, etc. One thing that I was very impressed was how our home was kept so clean and safe every day, having small children and pets this is so IMPORTANT!!
We couldn't be happier with the results and experience we had during our dream renovation. Our home is so cozy and the workmanship is beyond words.
I have already referred Oneway to family and friends and will continue to do so without hesitation.
