Staircase rebuild

We hired the Fixit Females to rebuild the main staircase in our 115 year old home. Rickety, squeaky and wobbling.
Fixit sent Amanda out to do the work. What a Pro!
Gracious, thorough and punctual.
She went above and beyond in her work.
I work highly recommend this outfit.
Competence can be a rarity these days.

was hopeful

Was hopeful... appointment to review work was timely and very positive. We were thrilled that this might be the company that we'd be working with but after being told we would get a quote by the end of the week we've been ghosted and have heard nothing even after multiple followups directly and through social media. I get that that sometimes work isn't doable within the realm of the companies big picture but please just say so....

Bathroom Renovation Nightmare

I would not recommend this company to anyone! Absolutely the worst. Annastacia is the least professional contractor I've ever dealt with. Shame on you.

We had them re-do a bathroom in our house and here's what happened:

- Their team flooded our bathroom, causing a leak in the ceiling in the room below
- They did not place muck under the tub when replacing it, causing it to sag in the middle (eventually they did fix this, and had to cut a hole in an adjacent wall to do so)
- Claimed they vented out bathroom, when really they just vented the air into our ceiling!
- We finally got them to vent the bathroom after much insistence, but they used the wrong kind of vent (picture attached - that is a flat roof). We had a roofer take a look at the photo shown and he had never seen anything like that, was just shocked.
- The incorrect vent cause MORE LEAKING to occur - this time from rain & snow (the second photo is a bubble of water in our bathroom wall)
- I've since emailed Annastacia to ask her to pay for the repairs, surprise, surprise, she never emailed back!

I understand mistakes can occur on any job, but if you cannot own up to them, then you have you should not be allowed to operate a business.

Bathroom and kitchen renovation

I hired fixitfemales to renovate my kitchen and bathroom. The renovation happened during the Covid pandemic and I moved out during the work.

-The job took nearly 4 months to complete (double the quoted time)

-there were many days when no work was done on my project.

-I handled all of the tarping and taping to protect my belongings, but when the tape failed there was no attempt by fixitfemales to re-tape the drop cloths.

- My home was left very messy/dirty. They didn't clean any of it up. Moving back in took multiple days of cleaning work to remove drywall dust, etc.

- There were errors in measurements and installation of components of the reno and I am now seeing sloppy work on the grouting and sealing.

I would never recommend this contractor to anyone and suggest anyone who chooses to use them to inspect the work very closely before signing off on completion.

Bathroom renovation

Overall, the renovation looks beautiful and it was completed in a timely and professional manner, particularly since it was during the early stages of the pandemic. However on closer inspection (after I paid - my mistake), I realized that the edges of the white shower surround tiles are broken and stained black in many places. I recalled their installer saying that the tile cutter broke while she was working with it, and she made a call to the owner (Annastacia) at the time.

I'm now unhappy with how the shower looks. Many of the tiles have broken edges. There are black marks along the edges of the tiles (not the grout, but the tiles themselves).

Annastacia promised, over many months, that they would come back and do whatever was needed to correct their mistake. In good faith, I gave her lots of time because of the pandemic and other issues that she had explained to me. There was always a reason why she couldn't deal with it and she just didn't respond to my last call. I was very disappointed, needless to say.

Basement and Bathroom Renovation

Fix it Females did a great job with our renovation. They were punctual, clean and courteous and a pleasure to have in my home for a extended period of time. Workmanship and communication were outstanding and they helped with design ideas and problem solving.
They painted, built walls, levelled floors and installed flooring and carpeting. They completely remodelled the basement bathroom and the tile work is perfect. I would highly recommend Fixit Females.

Main Floor Reno

We had the pleasure of completing our reno during COVID, which also meant we had to live in our basement.
The staff, specifically Imogen, were amazing and very friendly and approachable during the entire process. She took the time to make a plaster moulding to match our existing crown moulding and even took the time to level our back gate.
They removed a wall without issue and gutted our kitchen.
There were a problems that arose during the Reno, but a solution was always provided.
Overall we enjoyed working with the staff and are happy to be back in our new space.

retaining wall and outdoor stairs

I absolutely LOVE our new retaining wall. The crew was responsive to our requests for changes as the job went along and it looks amazing. There were many snags in the process. A late start means the work couldn't be completed in the late fall due to temperature. This meant a temporary wall was in place from Nov through to July because of Covid. The plan was changed from concrete/stone wall bricks to wood, the price changed, additional work was added (stairs) It cost more than I wanted but I LOVE the finished product and I LOVED working with the company. Having an all female crew working on my place was SO nice. They were friendly and explained what they were doing, asked good questions so we could make informed decisions. Many thanks for our new entrance!

Excellent work on several small jobs

We had many small jobs around the house - fixing ripped screen windows, fixing holes in the drywall, building a structure to support a baby gate, fixing the caulking around tubs and showers, paint touch ups, etc. Basically two full days of work. Donna was extremely professional and efficient, and did a great job with all of the house projects that had been driving me mildly crazy. The house looks great and it was a pleasure to work with her and with Fix It Females!
