It took approximately 3 months to complete a 2 week project. he wanted a lot of money up front. I gave him a small deposit. He would not show up when promised. He was constantly trying to cut corners. I had to have him redo certain parts of the project 4 times before it was completed.
Matthew did not properly superintend the project. His lead had was belligerent and wouldn't listen when asked to do things.
I needed to watch him the whole time or else he would cut corners and argue that he was an expert and I should be happy.
None of his contracts, business cards or collateral has a business address or business license number. He didn't provide a HST registration number when asked.
DO NOT HIRE HIM, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Do not use Stone Construction. For our renovation project we did not have a site foreman, our tradespeople were not paid by Matthew, and we had different unskilled laborers at our home everyday. Matthew never stepped on the job site once it began. The job ran over the time schedule, and we had to have further trades come in to finish what Matthew Stone did not. He doubled our final bill in the end with no rationale or explanation.

Stone Construction is a case of the proprietor thinking that general contracting is easy and can be done from his phone while working various other jobs. With no experience and bad customer service your project is bound for failure.

After reading his facebook reviews it hard to believe this guy is still in business having swindled so many people for cash once their job has started. The BBB has a file on the company at this time, I invite any other who have worked with him to contact them as well.

I gave him a 20% deposit for an estimated $100K renovation. Five (5) and a half months later and no work ever having been commenced, he has disappeared with the money and has been incommunicable for the latter half of this term. My lawyers are in the process of attempting to collect said funds through the judicial system.
Stone Contracting also did not complete a job on my sister's property that she had finished paying for in full.

Overpromises, and can't deliver. Our project started 4 weeks late, took 3 times as long, with more than 10 different sub-contract workers coming through our house. We had people quitting mid project and letting us know it was because he had not paid them. He is not qualified to be in this space and I would highly recommend you go with someone else. We learned our lesson the hard way - I hope you don't have to.

He promised me a start date to do my backyard and after a month of promises it never started. Demanded my money back and never got my down payment back in a timely fashion. His workers walk off because he doesn't pay them. DO NOT TRUST this guy. He talks so much crap and comes across like a great guy but he isn't. He has no idea how to run a business. He avoids all emails, phone calls and texts. I don't want this headache to happen to anyone else. He can't get away with this.

Matthew Stone will take your money, send terrible workers, disappear and not return calls, and end up damaging your home. Not only was he weeks overdue and well over budget, but everything he did needs to be redone and the damage he caused needs even more work. Avoid at all costs!!!
