Jspec Roofing

I hired Justin based on the great work he did for me last year on another roof. Justin and his crew were reliable, hard working and approachable. It was a big job and they showed me every step as they completed it. They contacted my neighbours to let them know about the work and did a great job of cleaning up after the job. Although initially I thought the price was rather high, the amount of work the job entailed made me realize that the price was reasonable. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any roof or deck work. My new deck is fabulous!

When I was collecting quotes for our flat roof replacement I was most impressed with JSpec Roofing. Justin (their company president) personally came to inspect the existing roof and discuss my options. He was on-time, courteous, and very quickly demonstrated his many years experience in the roofing industry. He took the time to explain everything in detail to ensure I understood what I was dealing with and exactly what I would be getting with his services. One thing particularly resonated with me was Justin's unique value proposition compared to the other roofing companies I received quotes from. That was his philosophy to bring his skills and many years of commercial roof installation experience to the residential market. My decision to award JSpec Roofing the contract was immediately confirmed when some drama was introduced to our roof replacement.

The water leak in the old roof lead to structural issues with the supporting posts and beams under the flat roof. At this point Insurance was involved. My insurance company made this process one of the most stressful experiences we've had in our home since we moved in 3 years ago. All this while our family was growing with the addition of twins.
JSpec Roofing was patient, flexible, and supportive of me throughout this process. In fact I would go as far as to say that they were more considerate of my well being than my insurer (who eventually declined my claim). This is a residential service provider that WILL pick up the phone to answer your questions, and often times was calling me to ensure they were doing everything they could for me during this stressful process.

I would not hesitate to refer JSpec Roofing to anyone looking for roofing services, in fact I will be having JSpec back to install a skylight later this year.

This job was undertaken in a timely, professional manor and the final product is as discussed and outlined in the contract and is of high quality. They stripped and replaced one of our flat roof areas, its wood fascia boards, fascia aluminum, eaves troughs and downspouts. They were able to recommend strategies for future work on other parts of our building and went above and beyond to ensure that the roof of our entire building was functioning as best as it can. We were very satisfied with the cleanliness and professionalism they exhibited as there were no disruptions to the regular operations of our facilities while they were here completing this rather large job.

Justin and team were amazing to work with. I had contacted them early on to help solve a water issue with my flat roof on a half storey. Justin came out and figured out that the water was mostly coming from the above window and that the roof was done okay but the scupper was connected poorly resulting in another leak. After much discussion, I decided to repair the full roof and make some changes with the angles to ease my anxiety about the previous work. Plus got someone in for the window issue. Justin was really up front with timing and when he would be able to come out. I have to say it is refreshing to find a contractor that tells you a normal range of when they will be able to come out - even if it is a few months out. I don't mind waiting for the right person to do the job. Plus in the meantime, he temporary repaired it so that we didn't have further damage. He followed up with me regularly to let me know where we were in the queue of the job which was also quite nice. Overall, the job looks great! They came out when expected and the roof looks well done with all the changes we did. Overall I am very satisfied with the business side plus his workmanship. I would recommend and use again.

I had a flat roof about 10 feet x 18 feet that was leaking. Justin came to give an estimate on the day he said he would. He gave me a time range and kept in touch by phone. He explained he would have to remove the existing tar and gravel roof and install new roofing material. He was the most professional company that came out to do an estimate and he also had the lowest estimate. He gave a timeline in which the job would be done. He was able to come a few weeks earlier which was great. His was part of the two man crew that did the job and took pride in his work and pleasing the customer. A board on the roof needed replacing and he didn't charge for that, most companies do which can add to the final price. Another company had done some roofing the year before and had cut corners. I contacted Justin about fixing some of the shoddy work done by the other company. Hew as able to do it on the same day he doing the roofing. He did that too at very reasonable price. Roofing can be very messy but Justin cleaned up all the debris. It was a great experience. I would highly recommend J Spec Roofing. The roof was $1450 plus HST and the other two jobs were $285 to take off a section of eave trough and replace a rotten board and put the eaves trough back on. $200 to install a water proof flange on a large iron plumbing stack.

We contacted Justin from JSPEC Roofing when our flat roof leaked in January. Justin was always available to answer our questions. The price was reasonable and worth the quality of execution. Justin quickly fixed the leak at no extra charge, so that we don’t worry about it until the day of the roof replacement, which happened a week later. He also offered not to charge for additional layer removal on our old flat roof, a positive compared to other offers we received. Since we have both a flat roof and a shingled, sloped part of our roof, we asked for extra caution to be taken with the shingle replacement in the area that connects with the flat roof. Winter replacement of shingles is not recommended because the standard adhesive needs warm temperature to stick, but it is a necessary evil during winter replacement of flat roofs, as the protective membrane of the flat roof has to go up the shingled slope and be installed under the shingles. We asked that manual application of adhesive that stick in cold temperatures be applied when the new shingles are installed, which Justin accommodated, again at no additional charge. As an additional precaution, he offered to install shingles with sure nail technology, which we did. JSPEC Roofing’s crew completed the job in a timely and professional manner. The team took extra care to protect the exterior of the house. Working with Justin and his team was a pleasure and we highly recommend JSPEC Roofing.

Justin and Jason were so wonderful. As first time home owners and roof doers we had a lot of questions about everything and they were incredibly patient and clearly talked us through every step. Their crew was friendly and conscientious.
We would recommend them in a second. Their work was beautiful and the job took about a week despite the many layers and repairs they had to do along the way.

Justin, Jason and crew did an almost spectacular job it was so well done. They found that the job done 19 years ago by one of the most expensive roofers in Toronto was woefully inadequate. They had to remove five layers of old roofing and found it to have retained a lot of dampness, such that sheathing had to be replaced plus soffits and fascia and even eavestroughs. The new flat roof has great insulation plus new ventilation as does the very large shingled major part of the house including porches. All this was done with top quality materials and workmanship. They also painted the wood front of the building above the second floor for a cost that was a quarter of the bids submitted by painting companies. I am David Quance, the owner of the house but put verified private user because I could not get the signature to register in Toronto instead of Renfrew.

This team is exceptional quality of skilled workmanship, outstanding team of the experienced people with professional quality and customer care. I highly recommend Justin's company. Very efficient!
