Our mudroom was also our laundry room, and it was a nightmare. We didn't know how to make better use of our space: The floor was covered in a combination of laundry and shoes, and there was no room to walk in the door, as the washer and dryer were right behind it. Clothes hung to dry and we had to use the hallway to hang our coats and hats. There was no space for hampers, no space to fold, and no place to walk in the door and leave our outdoor clothes. Interestingly enough, it also had 11 foot high ceilings, which we found to be a sad waste of space. Barry from Dependable Renovations came to look and immediately talked about what great space for seasonal shelving! He told us the rough cost of having our washer and dryer moved to the basement, and then the cost of locker systems and shelving.
We were pleasantly surprised with how easy the process of renovating was, as this was our first major renovation we had ever done. Lisa from Dependable Renovations set up a meeting with all of the contractors who would work on our room, and then was quick to give us a quote and detailed calendar of who would be working when, along with everything that needed to be done. Everything worked like clockwork, the people Dependable Renovations work with are incredibly knowledgeable, honest and friendly, even taking the time to meet our highly timid dog.
Our basement was impeccably set up for our washer and dryer, and our new mud room is so lovely, we often joke about how we should eat our dinner in there. The amount of storage we now have is incredible and having the laundry moved out of our mud room was the best thing we ever did. We have four locker-style areas for each member of our family's outer wear, we have a shoe rack storage system, and we have beautiful cupboards above it all for seasonal storage. We even have a lovely bench to sit on. We LOVE our renovation, and Lisa and Barry from Dependable Renovations made it SO easy. We will most certainly be calling them in the future when other renovations need to be done.
