My kitchen has a double wall oven that came with the house. It is 20 years old but I wanted to try and extend its life as long as possible which I feel is the ecologically responsible thing to do. The upper oven has been unreliable and I have had Call a Tech visit multiple times over the past year but they have been unable to resolve the issue, despite their hefty fees for coming out.
Two weeks ago the lower oven glass shattered, and I called them for help again. At first they quoted a price of nearly $1000 to fix the glass, but after a call from me to the parts supplier, they called me back to quote a much lower price of ~$550.
They ordered the part, and when I called back to say I might need a few more days to think about the cost, they insisted that I had to have the service now that they had ordered the part for me.
Eventually, the technician who appeared spent about 20 minutes replacing the glass front. Despite my request that he also look at the upper oven, he had been overbooked, and they sent technicians again the following day, and I had to wait again the following day for several hours for them to arrive. They were unable to resolve issues with the upper oven.
Afterwards they increased the price of the service (it was more than I had been told on the phone) and between the part and shipping ended up charging me close to $700 to replace the lower oven door, nearly the original estimate.
I did not enjoy being charged more at the end, and having my upper oven issue remain unresolved. With unpleasant service experience like this, I will have no choice to replace the units in the future. I would never work with Call A Tech again.
