Dean: Climate Change Heating & Cooling review

I rarely review companies, but I honestly cannot even rate this one because it doesn't deserves any star. Having installation done by Dean and his subcontractor has been the most painful experience I have had in recent days. Particularly that I have had similar services done in the past with different company without any problems. I expect a more professional approach to work from one who claims to have such a huge years of experience. It is either this is absolutely false or a complete all-out fraud. I think a report of leak few day after installation should attract immediate attention of a serious central AC installation services provider. It somehow appears Dean plays Mr. Nice up to the point of collecting money. Once money changes hands and there is a problem with the installation, then the nagging tale of being too busy to show up begins. It is a complete display insensitivity and absolute insult to tell your client you are busy to fix a problem with the installation you carried out as if your client has no work to do or not equally busy. Then he refused to show up on promise or neglect to call and explain why he failed to. Several calls placed were unanswered. So the problem remains till now and don't know how long the cooling system will last. I am lucky not to have introduced him to my friends who are looking for similar services as that would have been more painful for me personally. It is really questionable where some of the positive ratings are coming from. I want to hope these are not phony client profiles 'arranged' to spin the ratings. As far as I am concerned, my experience was a grossly disappointing one, a deeply eroded trust, a display of lopsided professionalism and I hope it serves as a big lesson for anyone out there. Think very well and will not recommend this one. Do allow him to talk you into a deal. You might be sorry.
...........................................................................................................................................
For the avoidance of doubt and in response to recent claim by the Climate Change Heating and Cooling that this same Dean rendered the services under Air Conditioner Calgary, I am stating categorically that my review refers to Dean of the Climate Change Heating and Cooling Calgary. The review is a clear report of what actually happened. There are more details I just didn't bother to include. In fact I got to know about and made the choice of my air conditioner services through the Climate Change Heating and Cooling Calgary website. I contacted Dean through the cell phone provided on the website: http://www.climatechangeyyc.com. He answered my call in affirmative. He showed up in person in my house in a uniform with climate change logo clearly displayed on it. He (Dean) also communicated with me using the same phone number throughout this dealing. He was fully paid. How that turns to be Dean of Air Conditioner Calgary along the line is beyond me. This will be my final update on this. I have ZERO tolerance for poor services rendered by a company that is so grossly deficient of integrity. I have absolutely no time or breath to waste on this mess. It doesn't deserves it.

New Trane Furnace

December 13,2017

Early in 2015 I chose Dean at Climate Change to install a new high efficient Trane furnace for $7,000.00
Within two months the furnace stopped producing heat.
The next two years there were repeated service calls performed by Dean at Climate Control, because furnace was not producing heat.
2017, Dean from Climate Control removed the furnace and took it to the shop to work on it.
With in a month furnace was not producing heat again.
Dean at Climate Control came on a couple of service calls.
I asked regarding a replacement and was told no it doesn’t work that way.
The furnace was running steady but supplying insufficient heat.
Since October 2017, Dean from Climate Control has stopped returning my calls.
November 9, 2017, I decided to get a second opinion, which resulted in finding out the following:

• A permit was not obtained for the job
• The furnace installed was too large for the home/current duct work
• Return air was not done according to the installation manual (5 Ton Furnace blower needs air to enter in more than one location)
• Furnace was not level and is not draining correctly
• Furnace exhaust termination is sloped the wrong direction and is too close to the gas meter vent
• Flame sensor location has been changed in the field

I am now in the position of having to purchase a new furnace.
It is important to me that the public is aware that Dean from Climate Control did not install my new furnace according to the installation manual and has decided after almost three years to disregard me as a customer.

Home air conditioner replacement

I hired Dean from Climate Change Heating and Cooling in Calgary, Alberta to install a replacement air conditioner in August 2014. The new air conditioner was installed August 12, 2014. Dean was at my home for approximately 6-8 hrs to install the new unit. While installing my air conditioner my carbon monoxide detector's were triggered. Dean wasn't concerned as he told me "he couldn't smell any gas". This is impossible because Carbon Monoxide gas is odourless! As he continued the installation I disconnected my CO detectors. Once the installation was complete at 9:30PM Dean left and I reinstalled my CO detectors. Later that evening (11PM) my carbon monoxide detectors went off in the house. At this point I had to evacuate my children from the home and call the fire department. When the fire department arrived they took readings in my basement and discovered high CO amounts. They determined the carbon monoxide was there as a result of the air conditioner replacement. Eventually, the problem was resolved by running the blower in the furnace to move the CO gas out of the house. During this event I phoned Dean and explained the problem. He did not come back to the house and did not offer any compensation for the inconvenience. At that point I hoped that was my last dealing with this company. However, it was not. Over the next three years my air conditioner still freezes up to the point that it shuts off completely because it can no longer function. The unit has a 10 year manufacturers warranty on the condenser and a 3 year warranty on workmanship. As of today (May 26, 2017) my a/c unit and its workmanship are under his warranty.
I recently had a furnace and a/c tune up performed by another reputable company. When the tune up was being completed I asked the technician about the freezing up of the air conditioner. He looked into it and determined the air conditioner in too large for my furnace and in all reality, my home. The cause of the freeze up is because my furnace is only capable of blowing 3 ton's and the air conditioner is blowing 3.5 tons. This has caused our electricity bills to be huge because the air conditioner has to start and stop all the time (short cycle). I phoned Dean yesterday and he kept giving excuses about why that would be happening. I asked if I could make an appointment. At this point he told me he was driving and couldn't look at his schedule. I suggested he pull over so he could do so but he refused because there wasn't any place to pull over. At this point he asked me to call back of which I suggested I leave a voicemail with my name and number (so he could call me back to schedule and appointment). I left a voicemail message. He did not return my call. I phoned again the next morning, his phone went to voicemail but I couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full. I called about an hour later and spoke with Dean again. This time I asked to book an appointment and he asked if he could call me back when he knew his schedule....fat chance... At this time I asked him why he couldn't just make an appointment with me right then (as he was in his office) he then proceeded to hang up on me. Needless to say, I am betting I won't ever get a phone call back or an appointment!
This is not a company that stands by their work and I caution anyone thinking about hiring them!

our furnace broke down

So our furnace broke down so we looked online for a company . We decided to try this company for the hell of it.... HUGE MISTAKE

Dean came over and was in the furnace room for 10 mins then tells us we need to pay this huge bill or get a new one. He really pushed and harassed us to get a new system. We decided to pay the bill tho,

after i showed the bill to my brother in law and he told me i got ripped off. there is no way my furnace needed all the parts replaced!

Broken furnace

Not impressed. After having the furnace repaired, the furnace serviced and cleaned and spending $1500, the furnace started having problems with 30 days. Then we were told that we needed a new furnace by this company. Not true. We had it reparied by a different company today with a $20 part. The furnace is only 10 years old.
