Duct Sealing and Rebalancing

We purchased our semi detached century home (circa 1850) about 6 years ago, and despite speaking with various HVAC pros, we have never been able to sufficiently cool the 2nd storey of our home. We were told that this was typical for older holes, and so we installed an expensive supplemental ductless unit on the 2nd floor last year. By chance, I found out about Aeroseal Tech the following year, and wondering if this technology could have solved our air flow issues, I had them come by and evaluate our home. After determining that we had almost no airflow through most of our 2nd floor vents, we decided to have the ducts sealed and any breaks in the duct work repaired. It took about a day for Victor & his associate to find the breaks and seal the ducts and we went from 43% to 1.7% air loss after the work was completed - a HUGE improvement! Just wish we had known about this before installing the expensive ductless A/C on the second floor as it is no longer needed. If you have problems with your home's airflow, do not hesitate to give this company a call, I only wish we had done it sooner!

Duct Sealing

I noticed that my basement was extremely warm and some other rooms around the rest of the home were unusually frigid. Just feeling around the exposed ductwork I could tell there was a lot of tiny holes and cracks, and I could imagine what hot air was leaking through hidden behind the walls.

So after some research on a good solution, I found out about aeroseal aerosol technology that would seal the holes in the ducts from the inside, throughout the whole home.

I met with Victor from aerosealtech, he discussed with me the process, the before and after expected results, and was quick to answer any other questions I would have. He was a friendly professional individual, and was easy to interact with.

On the day of the service appointment, him and his colleague showed up on time, hooked up the machine to the duct to start the sealing, and that entire process took around an hour because where thankfully no larger holes were found that needed cutting into my drywall to get physical access to.

Once the sealing was done, Victor did additional measurements of the air flow throughout the home to show the much improved results, and now I am no longer wasting heating costs on unused parts of my home.

Duct sealing miracle!

Probably the best money I've ever spent on my house! We've lived in our approx 3400 sq ft home for 16 years, and always had issues of insufficient airflow to the 2nd floor. Other HVAC experts said this was the case in all 2 storey homes. I had even added insulation to attic, added thermal film to windows, and switched to aluminum roof, all to help alleviate the hot 2nd floor in the summer. It was also a freezer in our basement when the AC was on.
Victor was very professional at consult visit. Made me turn on AC and went through house with FLIR infrared camera looking for cold spots behind the walls. Very quickly found some disconnected duct branches. My wife was skeptical about the safety of the material they use to "gum up" the holes in the ductwork. But was eventually satisfied with the answers provided.
It was a long and difficult visit for them when they came to do the work. I belive 8 ducts were disconnected and drywall was required to correct the issues. According to Victor's final analysis, we were losing over 750cfm of air in our HVAC system! That was about 50% air loss prior to his sealing. After the Aeroseal work, we are down to 15cfm air loss, a 98% reduction. It is now comfortable on all floors of our house. I noticed the difference very quickly...our old AC unit actually shut off (it reached temperature) on a hot day in May 2018. We then went ahead with a complete HVAC replacement (our old furnace and AC were 16 years old) and switched to a variable speed blower. The combination of the Aeroseal treatment and new furnace has made my home a very comfortable and efficient place to live for the foreseeable future.
Thank you Victor, for going the extra mile with my house!

Duct sealing and rebalancing

We always had problems cooling off our house in the summer, especially our master bedroom upstairs. There was very little airflow, and it would take hours of running the air conditioner for it to make a difference.

Victor came and sealed our ducts, and also balanced them to improve the air distribution. Our ducts initially had 54% leakage, and were sealed to 1.2% after he finished (a 97% improvement). The airflow measured in our master bedroom is literally 4-5 times higher than before the sealing/balancing process (the output was measured before and after for comparison). The net result is a huge improvement in comfort and ability to cool off our house. Our AC can cool off the entire house much quicker than before, and our bedroom is much cooler and more comfortable.

As part of the process, Victor also discovered the ductwork for a supply register in our living room ceiling that was never cut out of the drywall. He was able to precisely identify the duct location, remove the drywall from just the duct opening, and install a new register without damaging the ceiling.

I’d highly recommend the Aeroseal process. I expect that it will make a big difference in heating up our house quicker and more evenly in the winter as well.

Duct Sealing

We had very annoying problem of super cold temperature during the winter in a half of the house. The team successfully found the issue which takes it roots back in 30 years when the builder did wrong connections between the duct and return. On top of it there was about 78% of leakage. After couple of hours we could reduce the temperature by 2 degrees in entire house and have it identically spared all over the rooms.
Before you go and try to fix it somehow - call this guys and have them check your house !

Worth Every Penny

We had the Aeroseal treatment done to our ducts this winter and couldn't be happier with the result. Our home is about 100 years old and had hot and cold zones in different rooms. Now we are much more comfortable and have more uniform temperatures. The Aeroseal technicians were very knowledgeable, professional and courteous and did exactly what they said they would. I have already recommended Aeroseal to friends.

Duct sealing and rebalancing

Victor, the owner, is great. He was very careful and setting up his equipment, and very thorough in ensuring he did a complete job (including climbing through our dirty crawl space to fix a broken duct, and dealing with issues with our house wiring). He communicated clearly, and pricing is very transparent and reasonable. Top-notch customer service.

Wish I did this sooner!

After 6 years of using fans and space heaters to (unsuccessfully) regulate the temperature in our home, I heard about this company. I cannot say enough good things about the process and results- it was worth EVERY PENNY. No more tossing and turning on hot summer nights, forcing the kids to layer up inside in the winter, etc. Victor was reliable, knowledgable and professional; a pleasure to work with! He even came back months later when I had a question about one of my old vents. I have already recommended this company to many friends / family members and will continue doing so. I highly recommend Aeroseal Tech!

Sealing ducts

Our ducts were a mess, Victor and his crew basically sealed up a square metre of leaky ducts. The technology was top notch, along with the staff and communications. The best part is the after service. I called up Aeroeseal to mention we had a cold room. The staff showed up a day before Christmas and did some analysis. Now they fixed my cold bathroom. That is above and beyond customer service.

Aeroseal Duct Sealing is a patented breakthrough technology that tackles leaks from the inside out. Aeroseal software allows the technician to accurately measure the duct leakage in residential homes and commercial buildings. The Aeroseal process puts escaping air under pressure and causes polymer particles to stick first to the edges of a leak, then to each other until the leak is closed.

The technology was developed within the Indoor Environment Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, whose IAQ scientists tested it. The research was funded by US Environmental protection agency, US dept. of Energy, Electric Power Research Institute and California Institute of Energy and Environment.

The University of California was granted initial patents in 1996 and 1999, and Aeroseal holds an exclusive license to the technology.
