Seasonal Check (includes emergency services)

Direct Energy (or their sub-contracted) techs have always been cordial and professional in making sure my heating and cooling equipment are up to par for the upcoming season. This last visit last week was no different, and the technician also pointed out air flow leakages from the furnace which he recommended I duct tape. I appreciated this extra bit of advice for the extra efficiency and savings!

Annual maintenance, checkup

This was the annual furnace checkup. The technician arrived right on time and was friendly, helpful and informative. He explained all the tests and the results and pronounced the furnace healthy for another heating season. There was a little glitch getting the appointment because the Direct Energy online appointment system was down, but in the end I was able to get a convenient appointment from a representative by telephone.

Hot Water Heater Repoar

As has happened in the past, we had no hot water, as the old Direct Energy rental heater in our basement conked out. I called and explained the matter to Direct Energy and they sent their technician within 9 hours of my call. The person immediately saw the problem - blinking red light indicating the gas heater was out and the gas sensor - and immediately replaced the fuel/gas sensor, which apparently was corroded. In my previous calls to Direct Energy, the technicians only cleaned or tried to clean the sensor, so they did not really solve the problem. We are happy that this was resolved to our satisfaction, although they should have done the sensor replacement much earlier.

Furnace supply and installation

I was very impressed with this transaction. The price was reasonable, the pre-sales advice was very patient and helpful. The installation was professional and efficient. Favourable financing was available. The company representative is a credit to the organization.

Furnace repair. Covered under TotalHome Protection Plan

Brian McRae, the technician who repaired the furnace is to be commended on an excellent job. He displayed all the characteristics that exemplify an employee who is an asset to the company. He was prompt, polite, pleasant, efficient, knowledgeable and respectful of my surroundings and me.
Upon completion of the repair, he explained the problem, outlining why it occurred. He offered this information, without me having to ask. It was as if he anticipated my concerns. He was very respectful in his manner of speaking about technical issues. He also clearly outlined some product options for future consideration. He was very sincere and helpful. As a female, in general, this is not always the manner in which male technicians deal with female customers. It has been my experience that sometimes male technicians (any type of business) can be unintentionally condescending to female customer, which leads to an unfavorable experience.
In summary, Mr. McRae did an excellent job. He turned an unfortunate, concerning situation onto a very positive experience. He's a great reflection on your company.

Rental Water tank leaking damage

My basement is flooded due to DE's leaking water tank.

I have called DE 3 months ago to ask for a REPLACEMENT, but DE turned down my request.

I totally blame this accident on DE.

I want direct compensation from DE not from my insurance company.

Furnace

This company has teams that know how to do a install, i asked they clean up the plumbing and they did not cost all part of the work. The point is a lot of companies are sloppy and leave bits here and there like elbows and ends.

Good experience with the service provided by Direct Energy Serviceman. He takes the time to diagnose and explain the issues and then implement on the proper fix. He made sure the heating system is tested and is fully fuctioning,

furnace

Direct Energy's yearly maintenance and said the furnace was emiting 1,ooo ppm of Carbon D and shut it down. Another company ran a similar diagnostic test and found it emitting only 16. I was about to buy a new furance based on their numbers. Double check the numbers. DE said they will refund the cost of the second test.

Hi Angela, safety is a priority for us. If one of our technicians finds elevated readings according to TSSA standards, we must turn the gas to the appliance off. If customers have concerns about our readings we encourage them to get second opinions, and in the end we're glad you were able to receive a satisfactory resolution.
