Pro Fence And Decks

Paid a deposit and then after continued deferred (originally May) start dates either due to weather (2023 did experience weather issues) contractor began to no respond will new dates when there was no follow-up after an expected start date passed. Follow-ups on asking when the start date would be needed to be initiated on customer side rather than proactively provided by vendor.

Vendor unable to clearly advise how far down the queue we were, what the continued cause of delay was or provide supporting evidence (ie a renewed WSIB) to suggest they were indeed working.

Ultimately come Oct when it was clear no work would be done, refund was requested. Vendor stalled, suggesting they need their money back for material purchase (no documented evidence provided).

Reached out to BBB and Ontario Consumer div for restitution but finally had to claim insurance via credit card.
Previous references did speak well of vendor but it seems it's now a failed business with possibly only 2 (jorge and Jorge Sr.) working with no support.

Avoid taking the risk.

We have used Profence and decks for various projects in 2023. Jorge and his crew are great to deal with.I highly recommend

Absolute worst experience Ive ever had in dealing with this company. What a waste of time, money, energy, etc.

We are a group of 8 houses. We booked to get a fence done with this joke of a company in December 2022 for the 3rd week of May 2023. Jorge Jr. was super communicative and helpful. Even gave us a no tax if you book in December deal. We signed the contract and made the first deposit. He contacted us a month before our second deposit was due because apparently he needed to get the materials ASAP as everything was selling quickly and he didnt want us to be delayed(lol). Everyone paid the second deposit early. As May came, I messaged Jorge to confirm when they would be coming and whether or not we needed to prepare anything, as we had a temporary fence up. No answer from him. 2 weeks later I messaged him again and he informed me that they were delayed and the job would start on June 9. No prior communication about this from him. June 9th rolls around and zero communication from him again. I ask what time he is coming and he replies that he will let me know over the weekend. The following week we still had no info on what was happening. Finally we get a response from him that work will begin June 27th and that they are apparently very short staffed ( first ever mention of this). June 26th I asked him when he was coming the following day and he says he can only show up in July!! We spoke on the phone and I asked him to please be honest and realistic about whether or not he will actually show up and can do the job, as he has already wasted 2 months of our summer. He spoke to his father and he said they will for sure come at the end of next week. I told him that I really hope that is the case and if he doesnt show up, we would be asking for our deposit back. End of July comes and he does not show up. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of him. He finally answers and says that he is super behind and it might be best to get our deposit back. He said the refund should be processed within 10 daysas he needs to return the materials. Of course that did not happen. Upon speaking with him again, he casually mentions that he hoped it would take 10 days. Pretty sketchy to have a I hope it takes 10 days refund policy. He admitted that he was in the wrong and that it might be faster to get the refund through the bank as he has no cash to actually refund us ( there were a few of us wanting to get our money back). We were lucky because we paid with a credit card and we thankfully got our money back through the bank. Those that paid with etransfer are still waiting for their refund as the bank cannot do anything and of course Jorge is not giving it back to them (about 5k deposits from 8 houses.. not too shabby). He wasted our time, energy, money, and caused a lot of unnecessary stress. Because of his inactions and lack of care and communication with his customers, we can no longer proceed with getting a joint fence for all 8 houses. if he was honest and communicated with us properly and without stringing us along, we could have booked an actual reputable and reliable company and had a fence much earlier. Delays can absolutely happen, but they should at least be handled with a lot more communication and honesty. I simply do not understand how he can complete any job at this point so I would not recommend taking a gamble and dealing with him. Based on all the other reviews,I am very relieved that our fence was not done by him as it seems like it would take forever to get a hold of him to fix any issues that would arise.

I have been chasing this company for 2 yrs to fix an issue with the fence they installed and now for over a month they don't even answer phone calls or text messages. Stay away, they are horrible to deal with.

You better hope that there is no problem with your fence because they dont even return calls, answer texts or reply to emails. Ive been chasing Jorge for over a year so that can come and look at a post that is at a 45 angle pulling on the panels on each side and a gate that doesnt close properly.
Its still not resolved.
Do yourself a favour,,choose another company!!

EDIT: May 31, 2022 - Pro Fence and Decks has replaced most of the fence after finally receiving confirmation from the manufacturer that there was a defect with the product installed. They acknowledged that communication could have been better during the 14 month wait to get this resolved.

Only 4 years after installation, we noticed that our fence has faded considerably. It seems they used inferior fencing materials that can't be exposed to sunlight. We tried contacting them to get this fixed but they ignore us for months. They eventually showed up to have a look for themselves and agreed it had faded. Since then, they have continued to ignore us. Even our claim with the BBB was ignore by them. It has now been six months since we initially contacted them and our fence is still no closer to being fixed. Avoid Pro Fence and Decks at all costs. They are a nightmare to deal with and your fence will look horribly faded after a few summers!

On July 11th, Pro Fence started the fence to my yard and installed 2 gates front and back. On July 13th, the fence was completed. Final payment was given with verbal agreement to fix the front fence that was not installed prolerly. Jorge Jr agreed to come the following week to fix the front gate. The hinges split the wood, no metal post was installed to hold the gate closed, back gate does not open and Jorge has promissed to come fix this problem. Jorge agreed it was not installed properly from the start. We are now 4 months later and my gate is falling apart. I'm extremely disappointed with how this has been handled. We trusted Jorge and Pro Fence had great reviews. Unfortunately for us, we are left to contact lawyers in order for Pro Fence to honor their 3 year warantee.

Amazing Service ! From first consultation to their service at showroom and there amazing craftsmanship of the work they did to the deck they build for us ! I highly recommend them.

A deposit was provided in good faith when the contract was signed with Pro-Fence to replace a portion of our fence in June 2018 with the expectation that work to be started early September. Initially I noticed they seemed slow to respond to inquiries and phone calls, but assumed it was because there was a high demand for fencing in Ottawa due to several wind storms this summer. The install date came and went with us having to make the call to inquire as to the status of our work order. Pro-Fence delayed the install date more than one and then contacted us and asked to push it forward to the Spring season. I can not comment on the quality of work as we have now asked for the return of our deposit and will cancel the contract but the management of this business does not meet my standards nor give me a good feeling about their craftsmanship.

I called profence to get a quote. They were very professional and worked around my schedule to have someone come at my earliest convenience to measure for my deck. Jorge helped me design my dream deck and was very helpful in helping us make a decision on what material we should use as they have a show room where you can go and check everything out. . They gave me a start date which was closer than I thought it would be, which was awesome. I am very satisfied with the outcome of my deck and have no complaints at all. Best service and great work. I have recommended them to all my friends and family and I haven’t heard one bad complaint from any of them.
