Cleaning

Horrible customer service and their website does not allow you to cancel bookings. They just hope you will forget and then they can take your money. When I complained they barely responded. I had been using the services for months but needed to cancel all appointments before my vacation and the website did not allow me to. They refused to refund my money and there is no way to reach a "human" to complain. You have to use their online forms and it sucks.

i have been registered to use Handy cleaning services on a bi-weekly schedule. The first few times, the professional called to change the time but did a decent enough job when he came. However, for the past several sessions, different professionals have just arbitrarily changed the time they were coming- sometimes hours later but also days later - without calling to confirm and AFTER they have taken the fee out of my account. The fee is not reimbursed, but goes into a credit, which they don't use the next time. It is also extremely challenging to contact them and complain. Very shady. Use at your own financial risk.

Handy does not honor damage claims. They will drag it on until you give up.

Handy damaged my new hardwoods with their cleaning product. Could never talk to anyone in the claims department and had continual promises not upheld.

Great app that is easy to use and schedule but use at your own risk if anything goes wrong!

home cleaning

BIG SHAM. This is foolishly the second time I've used Handybook. I thought maybe the first time was a fluke. But it was the exact same experience this time around. The cleaner alluded to being underpaid and kept in the dark by the company, while she worked. She didn't finish the job by a long shot, and just left after the two hour period (small one bedroom). It seems to me, Handybook doesn't vet their employees at all, and/or severely underpays them, to the point that it's just a onetime gig. When I called Handybook to have another person come in and finish the job, they told me nobody was available until after the holiday. I had to have this place cleaned for the owner of the apartment for whom I was housesitting. Now I look like a jerk. I'm now hearing stories from other people who used this service and had the exact same experience, repeatedly. I'd bet my right arm that those 10 star reviews are phony and written by the company itself. This is by far the worst experience I've ever had with a crowdsourcing startup. Make no mistake - this is NOT the uber or airbnb of cleaning services. This is much closer to a straight up sham. And by the way, they're censoring my review by making me omit a word that rhymes with "sham."

Home Cleaning

Today I had a two hour cleaning session scheduled for my one bedroom apartment. This was the amount suggested on the website for a one bed one bathroom apartment and without a doubt enough time to clean my small apartment.

When the cleaner arrived she was on time and very friendly. I told her I would step out for the two hours to give her some space - as I said, this is a small apartment. Things were off to a good start.

When I arrived back two hours later, excited to see my clean apartment, I was completely shocked. Opening the door I saw that nothing in my view was clean. The cleaner came from the bedroom to tell me she had only had time to clean the bedroom and bathroom. In TWO hours! Keep in mind this apartment was completely tidy before she arrived. I spent the morning sorting out wardrobes, cabinets etc. Everything was put away, leaving a blank canvas for her to work with. All I was asking for was a good wipe down of what was on show. She went on to say that my bedroom was very dusty. Which yes, it was. But it should in no way take two hours to dust and swifter a bedroom and wipe down one of the tiniest bathrooms going! Actually, at this point she had not even swiffered the bedroom floor!! I started to think maybe she had gone all out, cleaned under the bed! Something to explain the length of time it took to dust. But no, she had wiped down the few cabinets in the bedroom. There was still actually quite a lot of dust around the bed. She told me if I would like the living room and kitchen done that I would need to pay for extra time. As I have visitors arriving tomorrow and not enough time on my hands, I asked her to continue. Even after the extra time, my apartment was still not complete. My coffee table had not even been wiped down, nor had my rug been vacuumed! This is only the beginning.

She then proceeded to mark off a check list of things she had done, including mopping and vacuuming. Swiffering is not mopping! There are still stains and marks on my floor. My kitchen counters still have stains. Not one thing was dusted in the living room. My living room and kitchen honestly look no different than before.

I am extremely unimpressed with this service. I've had cleaners clean my parents 3 bedroom house from top to toe, including mopping, vacuuming and cleaning inside the oven in less than 3 hours!

I will not be using this service again.

Apparently I Purchased a Nightmare

So, yesterday (August 17th, 2014) I had a booking to have my house cleaned. It was recurring at noon. At noon I looked at the appointment online to confirm and it said 1:00 PM. I wasn't going to sweat it but then 1:15 rolls around and I see it still says 1:00. So, I called Handybook.com and reached a fairly enthused person, who was extremely apologetic and offered to reschedule for the following day at 9:00 AM with the guarantee that they would be here - that I was listed as "Top Priority".

So, guess what happens? 9:00 AM shows up and no Handybook.com! One might think after standing me up, they wouldn't deceive to me and guarantee me that something is going to definitely happen this time only to have it not happen. Again. But would think wrong with Handybook.com.

So I call Handybook.com, again. This time I received a gentleman who obviously could not possibly care less about his job, the company he works for or the "service" Handybook.com "provides". This is where it gets nightmarish. After the gentleman (who I call "the gentleman" because he just answered the phone with "Hello") offers to refund or reschedule with me... Again, I point out what a true professional (you know, someone who had any kind of pride or investment in their job) might have done. Like... Offer free cleanings, move heaven and earth to get someone out here now - anything, literally ANYTHING - but say "I don't have the authority to do that and my manager isn't here." He then hung up on me because I was laughing so hard (because face it, at this point, Handybook.com 's operation is more avant garde performance art than viable business model). If he had not hung up I would have liked to add that, in the future - if Handybook.com is to have any hope of sticking around - it might have it's disgruntled employees do something like CALL their manager in a situation that "doesn't normally happen" and they don't have the authority to resolve.

So I told them that I will be posting terrible (and accurate) reviews of Handybook.com on every web site I can find (and of course telling everyone I know what an awful, worthless "business" Handybook.com is),

Not that any of them probably care though, right? I mean "this doesn't normally happen"?

cleaning home

Easy to write about. Do not use this company. The work is very poor. Cleaner showed up almost two hours late. House was not cleaned, crumbs still on counter when she left. The supplies they brought were not high quality and the vacuum smelled like dog. I do not and would not recommend
