Warning for everyone thinking of dealing with Ottawa Foundation Repair Contractors, make sure you know exactly what type of work you want to be done on your foundation before finalizing a quote with this company or else you will get condescending and rude emails and Yousef, the owner, will simply leave with your deposit.
I have hired Ottawa Foundation Repair Contractors to work on my foundation. Unfortunately, at the time we initially met, I was not a foundation "expert" and was not aware of certain features to request to optimize the work. Fortunately, we do have a good relationship with another general contractor that informed us of these features and explained to us why it was something to seriously consider when working on a foundation. Having this extra knowledge, I then went to Yousef to enquire about adding these features and the costs associated with these features.
For the record, all I was looking for is either a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer or, as mentioned, a quote about the cost of adding these features if possible. Unfortunately, most of the answers I received made me so anxious and nervous to send, especially towards the end, that I dreaded sending him the questions knowing what I would receive.
Without going into granular details about our interactions, the responses I received throughout our interactions were either vague or, especially toward the end, condescending and rude. Here are some examples of what was included in his responses –
• “Im either on job sites or truck going to work or managing my projects and dont have time like government employees to write long emails.”
• “It’s not easy to supply materials these days if you in touch with real world.”
Needless to say, I don’t think belittling your clients is a good practice and after being told by Yousef that “I’m not doing this.” in reference to answering my enquiries, thinking he was discontinuing our arrangement, I proceeded to tell him that we were discontinuing our arrangement as a confirmation of what he had said and that we wanted our deposit back.
Unfortunately, it seems that according to Yousef, I was the one that cancelled our arrangement and that he would not refund my deposit. His reasoning is he answered my emails and that is the justification for holding on to our deposit. Unfortunately, the deposit I gave him was not to provide customer service but to work on a foundation which was never done, not even a shovel in the ground.
Honestly, all that needed to be done, if this was too overwhelming for him, was to simply call me and iron out the details. All this to say, I would highly discourage hiring Ottawa Foundation Repair Contractors. Their prices might seem reasonable but the aggravation, anxiety and the belittling that I have felt through this whole experience is not worth it.
