Simon provided a prompt proposal and was very upfront with when work could start. He was also very flexible on the start date when I had some conflicts on the schedule. Tom's work was fantastic, very meticulous and I felt very comfortable leaving them access to the house.

The only complaint I could think of was the containment of dust, which I understand is difficult when working in an open foyer. Overall great work and reasonable cost based on other quotes.

If you are planning to have your hardwood flooring installed and your stairs re-finished to match your new hardwood, look no further. Simon of SB Hardwood and his team (Ziggy, Volten and Simon’s dad…hope I got the spelling right) are your guys. I have planned for my project for quite sometime and scouted around for contractors to do the job, Simon’s quote was the most reasonable and affordable price. After reading all the positive reviews on Homestars, I decided to do the project with him. Simon is very accommodating with all my questions before the job, especially with all the changes of what we wanted from the initial quote. I even asked him one last change the day they started and it was never a problem with him. I was never disappointed from start to finish and ended up doing more to what was I initially intended to do. I just originally wanted to do the main floor with hardwood but ended up doing a portion of the second floor and re-finishing the stairs as well and adding a new look too by replacing the pickets with iron. What a beauty! They did a wonderful job. My wife is really happy with the outcome, and so do I. Way to go Simon.

Simon responded to my request to quote within a day - he came to look at job and promptly returned a great price. He ended up sanding and restaining our hardwood staircase and railing, as well as replacing the pickets with metal ones. He also arranged to have a partner company do all our floors at the same time. The result is incredible. It looks like a new house! Everyone working with SB was quick, clean and showed expertise in their trade. We recently had the carpet removed on our staircase and hardwood installed, and we are extremely happy with the end result from SB Hardwood.
Simon was quick to schedule an appointment for our quote and I thought the price very reasonable compared to other quotes that I had received. They were able to start the project approx. 2 months after receiving the quote, which was fine with us.
The project was able to start a day ahead of schedule, which was great, and ended around the time that Simon had originally estimated.

Fantastic! Great people to work with. Simon brought the right team together, each with their own specialty. The craftsmanship was superb. Very careful not to make a mess or get in the way of daily life. They worked hard and were punctual. Not in a rush to grab the money either. Would work with them again in a heartbeat. Our foyer step has couple of curvatures and was originally covered by carpet. Simon’s crew installed a custom made hardwood step with a stain that matches our hardwood floors perfectly.
