Plumbing review in

They came out right away on a Sunday afternoon to replace my laundry tub pump. I provided the pump and left the installation instructions out for the guy to read. He installed the pump in about an hour and left. Within a few minutes all his connections were leaking. He used the wrong kind of thread seal (the manual said to use teflon tape and NOT the pipe dope that he used. He made it sound like he was doing me a favour to come back and fix his mistake, but he did come back right away and after another hour it was fixed. Read the instructions next time!

- Don't just assume that because you have been a plumber for 30 years that you are smarter than the manufacturer's installation manual.
- Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
- I would call someone else unless you are in an emergency and they are the only ones available.
