First Choice Fence

My mother's fence had three fence posts that were rotting out so we searched homestars and after reading First Choice Fence's excellent reviews we decided to give them a call. They were prompt at returning our call and coming out for an estimate.
Pratema was very nice & suggested that instead of replacing the existing fence posts which could ultimately break more of the fence, that we erect posts in front of the existing ones thus straightening and stabilizing the fence. Once weather permitted, Pratema and her team came out to do the job. The team got straight to work and for the most part did an excellent job. Although they had a bit of trouble installing one of two posts on the west side of the yard, they did finally manage to get it in and both looked great. The reason I am not giving a 10/10 rating is because of how the the one post looks on the east side of the yard just inside the gate. It was the last post they installed. I believe the problem occurred when the post was not cut to size properly before it was put in the cement. Unfortunately since they had already laid it in the cement and had another job to get to, they tried to size the post by sawing the top end after it was up thus not giving an even and smooth cut like the other two posts. We also noticed that this post was probably not the best looking out of the three to put just past the gate since it's quite noticeable when you walk into the yard. This may be a small thing but I know the look of the one post bothers my mom since it's not perfect & it's quite noticeable being at the entrance to the yard right beside the patio. In the end, we took some sandpaper & sanded down the top as best we could to make it look a little better but we would have preferred the cut was done straight & smooth in the first place. As far as function, I have no doubt that the posts will do the job so we have no complaints there.
Edit: The posts held up amazing & with time have blended in perfectly with the rest of the fence. I have changed my review to 10/10

Excellent service , workmanship and pricing. I contacted Pratema for a fence replacement. Old fence was removed and new fence was put up in a timely fashion even with my yards vegetation problems. Other companies refused to do this.

We found First choice from HomeStars and it was the first fence company we contacted. It should have been the last. They provided us with the best quote, were easy to work with and did a quality job on our full privacy fence. They also installed the fences for 4 of our neighbours. We are very happy with our fence and look forward to hiring them again when our back neighbours agree to replace our adjoining fence. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I had 4 posts that were rotten and a leaning fence. I called 8 companies and Pratema was the only one who called me back. It was a smaller job but she knew how desperately it needed to be fixed. She rearranged a few of her jobs and showed up with her team and replaced everything in 3.5 hours!! Her team did an amazing job and totally cleaned up the site! She also replaced my dysfunctional gate lock with a new one!
This is an extremely professional team who follows up and completes the job--they exceeded my expectations! I would recommend them to anyone!

What can I say about First Choice Fence? They should be your first and only choice to be quite honest! Like all my other home renovations, I take my time and complete Due Diligence on all companies and people I call for quotes/estimates, so this site comes quite handy when doing so! Knowing a bit about the fencing trade and having completed many reno jobs big and small I knew I a good number for companies I should call for this particular job would be 10, as calling different companies in the middle of the peak season would probably eliminate 5-7 companies as the good reputable ones would be booked up and either schedule something for late fall(weather pending) or early spring the following year or you wont even get a courtesy call back. After making my initial round of calls I was bang on and was left with 3 companies and First Choice being one. Out of the 3, Pratema was THE ONLY COMPANY to actually come out and give a paper estimate for free(a few companies wanted to charge an estimate fee of $50) and they were also the highest ratings on Homestars between the 3. I was surprised when Pratema came in the cheapest per sq/ft and she promised a rough time line for a start week, weather permitting and she took no deposit. I was pleasantly surprised when she called me a few weeks ahead of schedule and asked if she could start sooner, within a couple of days. The job in total took 2 days as they did a total of 108 sq/ft of fencing(combined wood and iron) plus a few gates. They did what they said and left no surprises or scares and my wife and I are 1000% happy with the whole process and end product.

They came by on time as arranged for a estimate and quotation (it was difficult to line-up other contractors to even show up). It was very reasonable. Pratema showed up on time and completed our project as expected. There was always an open communication line between us (via cellphone or onsite) which was helpful for me in getting my questions answered. She is flexible and always set proper expectations regarding our conversations. I would not hesitate to recommend Pratema and First Choice Fence for any fencing projects.

Pratema and her team were terrific. Had to reinforce two rotted fence posts on a 14 year old fence. I was very happy with Pratema's solution to the problem and it was within my price range. Most companies I contacted wanted to replace the posts which would have been a lot more expensive. I highly recommend them!
