Jean-Pierre was an absolute delight to have refinish our hardwood and create a new, beautiful staircase and landing for us. He is a complete perfectionist, and wasn't happy until everything was perfect. I would consider him a true artisan.

Unlike the other hardwood companies we received quotes from, Jean-Pierre truly cared about the products he used on the floor - ensuring that it would last 30+ years. He created a custom stain for us, selected the best hardwood he could find in the lumbar yards, and even went so far as to tear down our existing staircase so that he could build a new one properly.

His quotes were comparable to the larger companies, however with Jean-Pierre, we knew that we were getting someone with many years of experience rather than a series of contracted labourers using cheaper, less durable stains.

I would not hesitate to recommend Jean-Pierre to anyone looking for gorgeous, site-finished hardwood installations or refinishing.
I'd especially recommend you let him express his creativity with his unique designs and inlays.

Jean-Pierre did an excellent job on our unusual mix of yellow birch and BC fir flooring. He clearly knew his wood and his trade, responded promptly and accurately to everything and worked right to schedule; and he was professional, no-nonsense and reliable. I approached 4 companies for quotes and he came in marginally as the cheapest, though he is actually a real old-style (originally French) artisan and has many many years of experience. He made some great recommendations for our floors and could hardly have been more helpful, responsive and full of integrity. And the results are stunning! We got Jean-Pierre from Calgary Hardwood Flooring to repair, sand, stain and refinish our hardwood floors and are extremely pleased with the quality, workmanship, response and service he provided. He replied to us promptly after we contacted him by email; as compared to many companies we tried to request a quote from, some took some time to return our call and some didn’t even bother calling us back. The hardwood flooring in our house is the original 1-1/2” Red Oak from 1965. The previous owner had done some renovations – they removed walls which as a result, left sections of the hardwood flooring removed but they did not repair them and simply covered it all with carpet. Jean-Pierre did an excellent job repairing these patches. No one can tell they ever existed. He also did an excellent job sourcing the correct size and grain pattern to match our existing red oak. He is also very adamant about doing this the right way and made sure we knew how it should be done and how it should not be done.

Andriy was such a hard worker and a perfectionist. Our house is 100 years old and there were lots of areas that had flaws and he was very meticulous in his treatment of those areas. He did a lot of handsanding which looked really tough. He was careful about covering and draping everything because of the dust and his clean up was really good. We are thrilled with the end product!
