The duplex we purchased last year was a classic 110 year old free standing detached Toronto home in the Annex. This 5,000 square foot home was renovated 20 years ago (with a new roof installed at that time). We knew the roof was in need of attention as one of the garages had water coming in through the ceiling. The main house and garage are 90% flat roofs with parapets flanking 3 sides of the roof. Our initial evaluation of roofers included a roofing contractor we had used in the past at a different home, and a well known brand name Toronto roofer. We were hesitant with both these roofing contractors as neither of these two roofing contractors took the time to walk us through their quotes and neither instilled the confidence we needed to feel comfortable moving forward. With such a large capital expenditure one would think a thorough walkthrough would be standard.

We expanded our search and were lucky to be introduced to Roberto at HSX Roofing. Every interaction with Roberto was professional and it was clear that HSX were specialists in flat roofing. Not all roofers have the breadth of experience in replacing flat roofing and HSX provided us with a large portfolio of reference-able commercial and residential flat roof projects they had completed. It became obvious that Roberto was someone I could trust as he presented pros and cons on various roofing options (like copper versus metal flashing as an example).

The actual roof replacement was non eventful with his crew working in unison to get the job completed over 3 days with the highest level of roofing material and craftsmanship. Roberto would provide detailed videos and photos throughout the entire roof replacement project in addition to his feedback on any issues he discovered. The continuous communication gave us the feeling that we were up on the roof watching the installation happen real time.

My wife and I moved into a 100+ year old home last year and after the horrible winter we just had needed somebody responsive to replace our flat roof. I called Roberto and he answered quickly and sent his contractor Alex to the site who inspected the roof as two shingles had flown off with the windstorm he put a temporary replacement to cover that part right away free of cost which was very considerate of him and then gave a quote for the roof replacement.

I needed a new roof and since it is something one needs to do only 25 to 30 years, I was in the dark with no contacts. One should never take the lowest estimate and one should never take the highest. However my wife and I got the best vibe from Roberto and he also gave us the lowest quote. Between Roberto's character, past references singing his praises and seeing some of his previous jobs we hired New Alliance Roofing. A new roof is a two day job and rain was suddenly called for the next day, Roberto and his crew worked 14 hours to complete the job. Our new roof looks great! Our skylight that was installed wrong previously was done right this time around. They did the job on time and the quote they gave me was the price in the end. One thing I was warned about when it came to roofers, the clean up and again with New Alliance Roofing, I have no complaints about the clean up.
