New Roof - highly recommended

Victor and his team did an amazing urgent roof replacement at the end of Feb-2016: just in time for the incoming snow storm. We could not be happier with the service: the work was done on time, on budget, and on our schedule. Victor took a video before starting a project and walked us through potential problem areas. He guided us through the product selection and provided with his recommendation at our request. The crew was very professional, polite, and did a thorough clean-up after the project was completed. Highly recommended!

Replacement of Rain Cap on Furnace Vent

The rain cap, which sits at the top of the vent for our natural gas furnace and water heater, had fallen on the ground. Initially, I called our furnace maintenance service and was told that the furnace and water heater had to be shut down. Being early in January, it was urgently required to find a roofer to replace the rain cap. After numerous calls to roofers, I discovered that many roofers were unavailable at this frigid time of year. Fortunately, Victor did answer my call and arrived at my home within hours. Unable to find an exact replacement, he repaired the old rain cap by riveting the metal components which we had found. Braving some extremely cold temperatures, he went onto the roof to replace the rain cap. Incidentally, the price that he charged was 40% less than the estimate that the furnace maintenance firm quoted.

Complete roof and skylight(s) replacement

(Note: Approximate total price above includes all high-quality materials, labour and tax. And it was a BIG job!) I knew from the minute I met Victor that he was a true professional. He did a thorough video inspection of our roof, and proceeded to clearly outline all of our options in terms of the extent of the work to be done, as well as the various types of materials to be used (good or better quality materials). Once we had agreed on all the details and the price, Victor and his crew consistently impressed us in the following ways:
1. They showed up when they said they would (on the rare occasion where something delayed them, Victor always let us know at the time).
2. They were conscientious towards our neighbours. It's never easy to have such a big job done with neighbours right next to you on either side. However, Victor and his crew took every measure to assure that our neighbours were advised of the disturbance(s) ahead of time, and sought their permission to place ladders and equipment on our neighbours' property. They also cleaned up any debris on the neighbours property at the end of each work day.
3. When unexpected problems were discovered underneath the shingles and around our skylights (the result of shoddy workmanship by previous roofers), Victor took more video, clearly explained the situation, presented us with options and charged a very fair price for the additional material and work required.
4. Where possible, he saved us money by providing (quality) material he already had in stock, as opposed to buying it at full price from a retailer.
5. His whole crew was as quiet as possible, very polite and hard-working - no potty-mouths or slackers in this bunch!
6. The crew cleaned up after every work day, and of course did one big final clean-up once the job was completed.
7. The finished job looks fantastic! I am confident we will have no issues, but if we do, I am also confident that Victor will stand behind his 10-year warranty. I wholeheartedly recommend A-Line General Contractors!

Flashing and fascia repair.

Victor arrived within 2 hours of my initial phone call to assess the situation and was able to re-attach a piece of eaves trough
We had a portion of rotted wood fascia that needed replacing and he also pointed out previous poor workmanship around the roof perimeter that needed repairing (loose membrane needed to be torched, drip flashing re-installed along with the new fascia installation).
He was good at communicating with us in regards to scheduling and completing the work, clearly letting us know if he was unable to return a certain day what day(s) we could expect his return.
Once the repairs were complete he showed us a video of the work and included an overview of the rest of our roof pointing out areas of future concern (we have a portion of pitched roof that should be replaced within the next year).
I've dealt with several contractors since purchasing my house and would gladly recommend Victor.

Roofing

Victor appeared very professional upon meeting him. However, HE WILL NOT RETURN EMAILS AND HIS PHONE NUMBER IS OUT OF SERVICE. HE HAS MY DEPOSIT AND IS NOT DOING THE WORK. I hope this is an oversight on his part. If it is and he completes the work, I will amend this review. Until then STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Roof repair

Victor of A-Line Contractors deserves a 10+++rating! On all levels a superior job from start to finish. Victor quickly responded to my repair problem coming the same day of my call to assess the situation being very professional, knowledgeable, helpful and honest. He was thorough in detailing the problem areas of my roof and separating the issues from the big ice jam this winter to other weak spots when the roof was re-done 7 years ago with another company. It all made sense and Victor pointed out the spots that I could see from ground level which reinforced my confidence that he was the person who could resolve the problems. His honesty was also shown when I asked him to check my flat roof and he explained in detail about it's condition but it needn't be done this year but it would be advisable to have it done within a year or so. I will have it done in the spring with Victor. Victor and his assistant, also called Victor, came within days to complete the repair and I really can't say enough how impressed I am with the care, skill and dedication to doing a superior job explaining and showing me all the steps taken such as putting in flashing where there was a gap between shingles abutting the wall, adding new ice barrier shield after removing old shingles around dormer, replacing old caulking with flashing around dormer window, trimming shingles that were not trimmed and will be installing heat coil in eaves to reduce/eliminate future ice jam. His prices are very reasonable and his service is exceptional.

Roof replacement - Flat and slope

We interviewed a few roofers to reshingle our house and redo the flat roof. Victor seemed knowledgeable
and gave us a competitive quote. Other contractors classified it as a complex job and often we could tell
they were not familiar with this type of roof.

I was a bit concerned about his attitude towards my plants when I said that they should try not to kill
my plants and he said that sometimes it cannot be avoided. some plants did not survive but was not as drastic as I anticipated.

Roof took a while to complete in May and we are happy that the work was done well. (Three months, no leaks so far.)
The only issues were that falling debris destroyed a patio light, a garden hose nozzle was broken, and the crew took our
100ft extension cord by mistake.

I am not happy with the after sales service that was provided. Victor said he would replace the three items. I called
10x before he would finally come to the house. Each time he said he would come on a particular day, he never
showed up when we made it a point to stay at the house to wait for him. When he finally came in July, my husband
had already replaced the lighting and nozzle, so he gave us $40 but he forgot to bring our extension cord. It is now
September and he has not responded to any calls or text message from me or my husband.
So if he doesn't respond to calls, how will he honor warranties if the roof starts to leak?? Everytime I complained
about his after sales service, his response is "is your roof leaking??" The 5 rating reflects the after sales service and the concern about warranty.

Slate roof assessment/repair

We were happy with Victor's work and can recommend him. He came in a little bit lower than Avenue Road Roofing (the only other company that would work with old slate) and he gave us a 5-year warranty.

New Roof

Did a terrible job and provides terrible customer service.
Left holes where one part of roof joined another which resulted in animals getting in. Ignored my requests to repair. Cost me $600 to fix.
Now I have a leak. I've emailed Victor. Not holding my breath for a response.
Very dissatisfied customer.
