ice maker and some kitchen drain work

We had some work done for us by a previous contractor who we had a nightmare of experience with. Thankfully it was only minor kitchen reno. Now we were in process of selling our house and had a potential buyer request a home inspection. Well the inspector found few problems here and there, and yep you guessed it the kitchen plumbing was a mess.

Alex was recommended to us by our friend, he came on agreed date and time and took a look what he can do. In the end he had to cut out whole kitchen drain and do a proper work. He explained that the TY was installed in the opposite direction and the P Trap was glued as well.

Alex also repaired our water line to ice maker which was leaking and we just kept turned off. Sadly we aren't going to enjoy all this new things, but hopefully the new homeowners would be happy.

Definitely recommend Alex and his company, he is professional, on time, fair and very detailed in his work and explanation to us. Big thanks!

New water service installation

About 6 months ago we started losing water pressure in the house.
We called a few plumbing companies and they changed some piping in our house and changed some other stuff on the faucets, the pressure improved a bit. Sadly 2 months later we lost pressure again and this time it was even less than before, we once again had
few different plumbers come and help us with little results, we even changed our hot water tank. In the end we were losing hope, so a friend of ours recommended us Alex from toronto plumber. They said he does wonderful work and is very good at finding cause
of the problem when other guys give up. And they were right! Alex came and ended up diagnosing that our main water line needed to be replaced. So we signed paperwork and few days later his excavation crew was at our home digging. They used some torpedo machine
to dig 30’ underground, after that they ran a brand new 1” copper line to our house. After they backfilled the hole and cleaned up both outside and inside. By the end of the day we had water again, and this time we had pressure. Alex also came by and tested
our pressure which was at 80 psi, compared to its original at 37 psi. We are very happy with Alex and his excavation crew. Big thanks and thank you so much, we can finally enjoy our showers and everything else.

removal of old lead pipes and installation of new wster lines

Toronto plumber came highly recommended to us by my father in law as they did some work for him in the past and he was extremely happy with their workmanship and quality of service. In our case Toronto plumber had to do not a rather big project, we decided to do major renovation of our home which we purchased few years back. We been putting renovation off for a while to be honest, but with things breaking breaking all the time, we decided to begin the renovation project. So from the first call to the end this company was nothing but pleasure to deal with, I found them exceptionally professional, they put in extra hours of work at no expense to me and tried there best to work around the other trades guys doing their part. A week later we had brand new pex water lines (we opted for plastic to save some money) and we had brand new abs pipe put in for drain and vents replacing our old lead pipes and vents. Overall I’m extremely satisfied with their workmanship, customer service, work ethics and prices. I give a big thumbs up to Toronto plumber and any homeowner looking for a reliable and skilled plumbing contractor to do work for them.

Leakage from upstairs bathroom into the kitchen

About couple of weeks ago we started noticing our kitchen ceiling getting wetter and wetter, we originally thought it was caused by a faulty roof as we had some rainy days for past couple of days. So we called a roofer, the roofer went up and found nothing wrong with our roof, suggestion we call a plumber instead. When I was telling this story to few of my co-workers one of them suggested I use her plumber, so she gave me Alex’s contact details and I called him. Alex was very pleasant speaking too and he booked an appointment for me the next day. Alex came and took a look at our problem and gave me a quote for around $500 to fix the problem. Honestly I was bit shocked with this prices and instead looked elsewhere. I managed to find a plumber from Kijiji who would fix the same problem for me for $150, quite big difference to be honest. So he came and fixed the problem, I was happy that I saved $350 dollars and the problem was fixed. Time to repair the ceiling (yey!). But 2 days later we started seeing water again in the same spot, so I called the same plumber and had him come over again, he came and told me there is nothing wrong, and asked for $50 for his time and gas. So I paid him, another 2 days pass and guess what? We have the same problem. Okay at this point me and my husband are unsure what's going on, and the damage is getting worse from constant leaking. So I called the same plumber again, this time he no longer picked up from me. So then I called from my husbands phone, he picked up and when I confronted him he said to leave him alone. At this point I did not have much choice and decided to call Alex as originally recommended to me by a co-worker. Alex came same day and gotten to work. So what was the problem you wonder? Well for starters it all began with our shower cartridge, the plumber I called from Kijiji did not install it properly and did not put in two washers inside, and we also had a second problem that Alex found. The shower spout had a small hole in the pipe and was leaking back into the wall. In the end I paid way more and now have to deal with more damage to the ceiling then originally. I know sometimes we try to look for something cheaper, but to be honest it’s better to call professionals and pay the extra few hundred dollars and know your safe and gotten the work done by a licenced plumber. But you know the saying, you get what you paid for. From now on we are gonna have Alex as our go-to plumber and no longer rely on Kijiji plumbers.

Leaking Bathtub Faucet

Quick and efficient, but on the pricey (slightly overpriced) side which I suspected as they weren't able to give quotes over the phone nor tell me how much their hourly rate was.

That being said, the work took under an hour, but still cost $650. Things like being 24/7 is great, but I highly recommend shopping around unless it is an emergency. As a rule of thumb an hourly rate is usually around $85 and the parts have a retail value of $100. The job should have cost $300 max (including a 100% markup). An hourly wage of $500+ is excessive.

Buyer beware on this one. I learned my lesson.

Before anything let me clarify few things. The Delta cartridge image that you uploaded to HomeStars is INCORRECT, your cartridge is WHITE AND BLUE. This cartridges cost $67 to $99 + HST. We are not HANDYMAN, as such WE DO NOT PURCHASE FROM HOME DEPOT. All of our Plumbing needs are taken care by professional plumbing stores like Noble and Wolseley where we obtain 100% GENUINE PARTS & ACCESSORIES, not SOME 3RD PARTY OR REBUILD PARTS.

Secondly, we told you on the phone that we DO NOT CHARGE BY THE HOUR but instead rely on our PRICE BOOK. You can do all the calculations you want and somehow come up to $300 but you forgot that we have to pay Insurance, Licensing costs, WSIB, Taxes, Vehicle, and we got Staff to pay, a HANDYMAN could have done it for $300 but you're forgetting that it is ILLEGAL for HANDYMAN to perform any work in CONDOMINIUMS.

And lastly we do not force people to sign and agree to our pricing, we did not begin the job and then gave you the bill. We gave you the cost outlay and upon you a) Initialing that you understood the task and price and b) Obtaining authorization signature did we start the job. As such you were 120% aware of the cost before the job, you could have gotten a second opinion and let us go at NO COST TO YOU, as we provide free estimate. But you choose to go ahead with our prices, and in the end it's too high for you now? As we said you could have gotten an FREE ESTIMATE and called someone else, there are plenty of people who work Saturdays, no? Also as rule of Thumb, Master Licensed plumbers can go up to $140+ /hour as per 2017.

Also NO REPUTABLE plumbing company provides over the phone pricing. As such we would ask that you refrain from making false accusations without providing all the facts and trying to bring down our reputation.

Leaking Hot Water Supply Line

Last Saturday we woke up to a bubble in the drywall of our dining room ceiling and water dripping at a rate of about 1 drop per second from this spot. I put a bucket under it and poked a hole in the ceiling to let any water out that might have been pooling up there. Then I came to Homestars and started looking for a plumber. The first one I called greeted me only with voicemail and I never got a call back. The next one I called said he didn't work on Saturday. Then I called The Toronto Plumber.CA and they picked up the phone right away and promised me they'd have someone there that day to help me. Huge relief just to get a live human on the phone that seems like they care that you have a problem - you know? So, then I get a call from Yuri and he says he'll be there in an hour. About an hour later he called me and said he'd be another 15 minutes or so because of traffic on the Gardiner. Nice that someone follows up when they're going to be late. Communication is everything, especially when you're helpless like I am when it comes to plumbing. Yuri shows up, we agree to the $180 fee for determining what the problem is. Cool, where do I sign? He had to cut a hole in the ceiling, of course, but not until he checked the rest of the house out to see what else might be going on. Could be a problem with the roof, after all the rain we've had in the last 2 days. So Yuri opens up the ceiling and the problem is the coupling between the plastic PEX hot water supply line and the copper line that goes to the bathroom fixtures. Yuri then gave me a quote to replace the line and said it would be $100 more to fix the cold supply line at the same time, as they both had been installed with the wrong type of coupling. It made sense to me that, while I had a hole in my ceiling, we should do both. Almost a week later, no sign of any trouble up there (I still have a hole in my ceiling, but we can fix that easily enough) and I'm very happy. Yuri was very professional and he worked hard to fix my problem. I was happy with the price and would highly recommend Toronto Plumber.CA.

Ice maker installation

We recently purchased a new fridge and we're looking for someone to hook up the ice maker. Our old fridge did not have an ice maker and as such new water line had to be put in. We called few companies, but decided to try this company based on others feedback. And I got to say the feedback of other customers is spot on. Alex from the Toronto plumber came in time, he clearly explained all work and showed us clear pricing. During the work Alex maintained a clean work environment and did very nice job drilling cabinets to run the water line from kitchen. Overall it was more then pleasing experience and we are extremely happy with our choice of plumbing contractor. Kudos to Alex and his company. Kevin & Linda

Bathroom (bathtub area faucet / pipes)

We researched a few plumbers and got different quotes and then we found The Toronto Plumber.ca (Alex and his associate Terry) through Home Stars. They are very professional and polite and I felt extra security in learning that Alex has many, many solid years of experience. I called them because of an issue in a rental unit regarding the bathroom/bathtub pipes/fixtures. The tenants reported that when the cold water was turned on slightly (like a weak stream), the tap or pipes would cause a really noisy racket and it only seemed to be getting worse because the water temperature would fluctuate when both hot/cold were on and then it would become scalding hot. Alex examined the problem, conducted many point / safety checks, clearly communicated the problem in a professional way so that I could understand exactly what was going on and completed the job with cleanliness and quality. The reviews from all the highly satisfied customers are true and now we are too! Lina – Toronto (East York), Ontario.
