Sharam, the owner of Bathman and contractor, started our bathroom renovation in Feb, 2018. Less than one month after the bathroom job is completed, we discovered many things needed to be fixed, and he repaired most that are easy and quick to fix.
On April 3rd, Sharam and his crew returned to do our kitchen renovations. After he installed a couple of cabinets in the kitchen on April 19th, we mentioned to him that cabinets installed were crooked and not levelled. He replied by blaming it on the floor, the wall and ceiling because they were not straight, but he was the one who gutted our kitchen and installed new ceiling, wall and floor. On the same evening, we sent him a couple of videos showing how to install cabinets, and asked him to reinstall them so the cabinets would be levelled.
At 3:24 am on April 20th, he sent us a text and asked us to leave a cheque for him with the remaining balance minus 10% hold-back so he could continue the kitchen renovation project. At 11:41 am, he left the house key for us while we were at work. We came home after work and sent an email to him saying that we are happy to make a payment when he finishes the job as stated in the estimate that he provided us. He replied that we should take our losses and move on. At that time, we had paid him 55% of the total kitchen renovation cost.
On April 21st, he sent us another text and wanted to give us a quick review on what's left to be done. We then met on April 22nd, and found out that the cabinets he ordered were the wrong size. He stated that he provided the correct measurements to the designer, but the designer entered the wrong numbers. He admitted, however, that he overlooked the measurements on the final draft of our kitchen plan, signed it and had the cabinets made.
The cabinets were delivered to our house on April 9th , but we were not informed by him that he ordered the wrong size until April 22nd. Without telling us he ordered the wrong size cabinets, he ordered a new door to fix the mistake without our consent . We were only notified about the mistake and his solution to the problem two days after we came to a mutual understanding to move on.
On April 23rd, we sent him an email informing him that we want to have the right size cabinets instead of cutting the existing cabinets, installing a new door and putting a 5 1/2 inches filler in. He then replied to us that he will take a legal action against us to the full extent of the law if we send him one more email, phone call or text.
We are left with 4 wrong size cabinets ( two pantry ones are too tall that the bottom needed to be cut, one top is too wide, one bottom is too narrow), and are now in the process of scrambling to find another contractor to finish our kitchen renovation, ordering the right size cabinets, which won't arrive for a few weeks and to fix some of his work done to the renovations. On top of that, my pantry cabinets will not be aligned to the rest of the cabinets as they needed to be cut to fit into the kitchen ceiling height.
This has not only caused a HUGE inconvenience for us but also a TREMENDOUS amount of stress and additional costs. Sharam/Bathman did not meet our expectations in terms of quality of work and customer service, and we cannot recommend him to others.
