Changing a Board on my Furnace

Don't call this company unless you want to be li3d or overcharged!!!
I caled this company on Sat. Oct. 21, 2017 and asked them to send some one to check the furnace, Diane said she can't send some one on the same day and it is better to send some one on sunday.
the guy told us we need to change the board and he went to get a used one from some one else, he came back less than 5 min. with the used board.
we agreed on %50 off for the used board
then he called Diane to confirm it, on the phone she was pushing him to sell that to us as a brand new!!! board, didn't know we can hear what she says. The technician said I can't because it is dusty and they will find out.
Now the worst part: "the charge"
She was asked me to pay $700 for the job!!!
$350 for the board (the brand new board is $350)
$165 for the work on sunday which she actually pushed us toward it and never told me that she will be charged me double for sunday!!!
$150 for the delivery of the board which only took less than 5 min. (If I rented a limo with a driver to pick it up it would have been cheaper)
Then when I complait about the price she started to tell me all kind of li3s you can't believe.
First she blamed on the technician that he charged her for the delivery, (which we found out later that the poor guy didn't even know about that $150.)
I asked why you are charging me $350 for the board?
The answer was so funny: she was adding the shipping and handelling from the US and custom fee, etc.
and I was like: this is a used board why you are adding shipping and handelling from US!!!

This company specially the lady on the phone (Diane) is all Li3s and Overcharges, Try another Company

Duct cleaning

Horrible horrible experience. They charged me $800+ for a duct cleaning service that could have been done way better in half price. Furnaces were not really cleaned, and even vent covers were not put back properly. Stay away this company.

France Repair

This was without a doubt the worst company I have ever dealt with for anything. They had to come back and forth to my house 6 times and the problems were still not properly resolved. They charged me for parts that were under warranty. I have sent numerous emails to the owner Diane and she is not responding with any attempt to resolve my concerns. The repair people were totally inept. Then on the day five for some bizarre reason my water tank stopped heating..... I then had to replace my water tank...this all started with a small furnace issue. The repair folks were not very professional.

As shady as they get...

I called for the "free service call" while I was at work. Had my mother looking after my kids meet them at my house. The free service call went from free to $904 with out any notice or contact with anyone before or after regarding the actual service to be completed, this despite my moms repeated requests to know what was wrong or what it might cost me. Nothing signed before or after by anyone at any point. They told her it would be "expensive" but didn't know how much. Had my mother not been there to phone me at work to tell me what had happened I wouldn't have even known the repair was completed until I received the email bill. They made no attempt to reach out to me at any point to advise me what was the issue. The second issue here is that they charged $750 for a part that is readily available throughout the city for about $60-$100 over the counter... thats retail price depending on where you go, so you know she paid less. Her claim is that the parts place was closed and they opened up just for her to get that part and therefor had to pay $100 fee...which is in my opinion a not true because I have in an email where she said she phoned them but got put on hold for a long time and figured it might be quicker to just go there. The fix was about 20 minutes labor not counting the time spent obtaining the part and diagnosing. They spent about one hour on property including the diagnosis and repair. And by they I mean they sent two technicians...which is strange on its own to double your labour costs for no reason which is probably why she shot for the moon on the parts price. Her response when I requested some explanation was that its not her responsibility to provide estimates unless requested and if I wanted to know I should have contacted them before they did the work...which is an absolutely ridiculous assertion since with out their contact I would not know where they are at in the process and in fact my mother specifically asked multiple times what was wrong with it and what would it cost. They left the house saying they had to go to the parts place to get a price on the part but when returning they still wouldn't provide a price to her...she assumed they were still figuring out what to do. They went back into the furnace room and when they returned a short time later they told my mom, Its all fixed up we will send a bill to his email. In her email correspondence with me she was condescending, unproffessional and indifferent to the situation she had put me in, never defending her fees from a business perspective or trying to have me understand why she was trying to charge that rate on the part, but rather trying to force me to pay. Instead of negotiating a fair rate on the part she just threatened to put a lien on my property...which is where we sit today. Diane is, in my opinion and experience, hands down one of the most unprofessional and difficult people I have ever dealt with.

Furnace Repair

I've called them to fix my furnace that has shut down all of a sudden. The owner who usually answers the phone told me to wait for her call. The without calling me she dispatched the crews on my door step!
Then the first technician had no clue about fixing the furnace and told me to read the instruction on our furnace door!!
He called for help and the next guy came and in front of my eyes has turned the on/off valve from ON to OFF! And that was it!! I was so surprised how I have missed that on/off bottom!
They charged me $340!!
When I've called and complained the lady said she is the owner and she said they charge $160 for a dispatch regardless and the rest is the cost of repair!!
I would never recommend them to anyone! So unprofessional and not customer focused.

Furnace Repair and Humidifier install

Called them as they were are Calgary home show and was the dealer for Carrier.

Got my furnace working by playing with terminals on board.

Then fitted the humidifier on the hot, not cold like manufacturer instructions (even though I mentioned that it was on the wrong side, installer stated that it could be fitted either side).
It caused ice build up on windows even with humidistat turned off, as moisture generated from being installed on the wrong side.

Damaged ducting and brand new humidistat.

Furnace board went 1 month and 7 days later and was told by the owner that the furnace board would cost $499+install+GST. Spoke to another authorized dealer contractor and they could get me a new board for $280-290+install+GST (~$200 less than Calgary Custom Furnace).

I called the owner of Calgary Custom Furnace and I was told that there was no margin and that due to me being unhappy about the service 1 month earlier that she could reduce the price by 1 hour [$80] (didn't cover the cost of damage caused by installer but just 1 hour of his labour charge)

When the other authorized dealer came to replace my board he mentioned that it was incorrectly wired.

What can I say....

Calgary Custom Furnace has the worse workmanship and ethics, ever of any tradesman I have come across!!!

Carrier should be reviewing Calgary Custom Furnace conduct and being associated to them.

Furnace Cleaning

We "won" a 2 for 1 furnace cleaning via the Calgary Home Show with these guys. As we are new home owners (first time) we didn't know much about our furnace or cleaning it. So we brought them in to do the cleaning. The guy was late just over 45 minutes (with no call or text). Booking the cleaning with the lady "Diane" on the phone was extremely painful and I had to call her 3 times to ensure we were properly booked as she told our "second winner" for the 2 for 1 the wrong information on when we were getting our cleaning done. Good thing I caught that and called her to confirm.

The actual cleaning was ok. Found a fair bit of dust after the fact around but can appreciate that that might be standard.

Only reason this is 1 star review: They emailed me the invoice. but then I had to call to pay by credit card.

Furnace Repair

Do yourself a favour, call a different company. The amount charged to replace our furnace motor was $250.00 more than the quote. The technician started to play my personal guitar without permission while in the middle of the job. The motor they replaced died just over 1 year after the repair. The owner Diane is very confrontational and obviously has done this to many other customers.

Service

I had Calgary Custom Furnace come to diagnose a furnace that would not turn on. I was told their call out fee would cover a certain amount of labour. The tech found that a screw was inhibiting the thermostat. So he replaced a screw. For that Diane figures that it is reasonable to charge and extra hour labour over the call out fee. $290 to change a screw. Give me a break. They should learn how to charge fairly for work done not gouge.
Not recommended.

Fix Carrier a/c unit under warranty

We were the victims of fraud in our dealings with this company. When we first called her, Diane claimed to be an authorized Carrier rep; she is not. Instead of fixing our existing a/c unit, she replaced it with new equipment and told us that this was covered under the terms of our warranty; it was not covered and we had to pay for the equipment. When we tried to register the new evap coil serial number with Carrier for warranty purposes and found we couldn't, she claimed she had already done so. We subsequently found out that the coil wasn't made by Carrier, meaning we have no warranty at all. The equipment she sold us failed less than 1 year later, and of course she refuses to accept any responsibility.

Go to Carrier.ca...u will find Calgary Custom Furnace Co Ltd. listed as a dealer. All of this new product was replaced at cost...Dealer pricing as discussed and agreed by Alex over a year ago.
