We made the decision of having our backyard transformed into an usable space for the family this summer, originally we thought about doing a deck using wood because of budget reasons, but due to lack of availability of wood at this time we thought about other solutions.
Concrete was our choice because is a maintenance free option and even though it is more expensive than what we had plan to spend, it is not as expensive as other options like interlocking, etc.
So went to Homestars to look for reputable companies in our area to contact and get the process started, we contacted five companies, not all of them called but we are very happy that we got a call from Groundscape Contruction. Even though our project was not the biggest, Sal made us feel like it was important to them, he booked an appointment to come take measurements, explained to us very clearly what our options were and sent us an estimate promptly. We decided to go ahead with them.
The result is everything we had expected and what was promised, his team is hardworking and professional, but the most important thing is you can feel that you are in good hands from the start. We will be calling Sal again in the near future for other projects we have in mind, we highly recommend their services.

Two weeks ago our "plain vanilla" backyard was transformed into our vision of a sophisticated, elegant, comfortable oasis. After waiting for months before our project could be scheduled, the big day finally arrived and we were both nervous and anxious as Sal, Mike and the crew began the excavation. We quickly came to realize the professionalism and expert knowledge that Sal and his crew exhibited at every stage of the project. We truly can't say enough about this company and their people. It's always so comforting to see the owner (Sal) and his project lead Mike on the job every day making sure that every detail was handled as promised. If there was a complication or when we changed our minds on an aspect of the job, Sal was very accommodating and always made sure we were happy with the outcome. It's the little things that sets a contractor apart - arriving on time every day, working full days, being polite and accommodating, leaving the job site clean and tidy every evening, and coordinating different sub-trades expertly such that the project ended exactly on the day Sal projected, within budget, and to a level of satisfaction that exceeded our expectations. They went above and beyond - we were so impressed by the extent to which they exceeded standard specifications to ensure a lifelong, trouble free installation.
A new patio was incorporated into an existing one by cutting into it and incorporating beautiful complementary hardscape stone with two seating walls at the rear corners. The badly sloping rear yard was excavated, leveled, properly drained and a beautiful natural Armour Stone retaining wall was installed to line the rear perimeter allowing the yard to be levelled out. Deep extensive garden beds were created on three sides with plantings of columnar cedars, hydrangeas, hedging and variegated hostas. It was all capped of with meticulously laid and leveled sod surrounding the . Low voltage lighting was added to accent the trees and flowers, which creates a stunning look and ambience that envelopes you in a sense of calm, sophistication and beauty; a great place for entertaining.
We would highly recommend Sal and Groundscape Construction to anyone seeking a landscape contractor. They care about the work they do, are very accomodating - making you feel like in your good hands, and they go that extra distance to do really fine quality work. Great team and superb workmanship.

Sal and his crew did an amazing job on our landscaping project. We are so glad Groundscape Construction Inc. did the work and more than pleased with the final results. It looks wonderful and it is now a real pleasure to spend time outdoors.

From our first meeting, Sal listened to our ideas, took meticulous notes and made diagrams of our vision for the front and back landscaping. He truly grasped what we had in mind, provided us with product catalogues and explained the pros and cons of the various qualities of stones in which we were interested.

Sal and his hard-working crew were at our house early in the morning every day. They were all very professional, polite and respectful of everyone, including the neighbours. Each day they worked long hours even though the weather was intensely hot. Our property was always left in a clean and organized state at the end of the day ready for the next day. At the start of the project, Sal told us his guys are great but that was an understatement, they are all incredible landscapers!

For years we’ve been wanting to clear up a corner of total wasted space in our backyard, and make it a usable area. Our decision to move forward with this project was a last minute one, and we didn’t expect a contractor would be able to help us for weeks/ months. From the initial consultation, to the final project ‘reveal’, Sal and his team were outstanding. I would never have thought my patio project would be completed in less than 10 days, even in the middle of a pandemic. Sal was extremely professional and clearly knowledgeable of his trade- he understood exactly what my vision for my backyard was, and delivered it to perfection. Even though I considered my project a small one in comparison, he took extreme care of it and ensured I was happy with the progress every step of the way. Groundscape is incredible. Let us save you the trouble of all the research. You will not be disappointed. We ‘interviewed’ numerous contractors when we were considering landscaping our backyard. As soon as Sal came by to discuss what we might want, we knew right away this was the team we need. We were somewhat clueless as to what we wanted exactly but Sal was able to give us lots of ideas with no bias and was comfortable answering the numerous questions we had lined up for him. When the time came the crew showed up on time 6 days a week until the job was complete. It was a fantastic group to work with and a special thank you to Sal, Mike, Mike, Jordan and Robert who worked so hard every day to give us the backyard of our dreams. They really are perfectionists which made us so comfortable in every aspect of the job. Even in the time of Covid and social distancing the guys kept their distance and wore face masks throughout. Everything was taken care of by the crew and they were all on site (including the owner and foreman) every single day. I can’t wait until we landscape the front yard because we truly look forward to working with Groundscape in the future.

Beautiful work exceeded my expectations. Job entailed replacing old walkways with Interlock, building a small patio area for BBQ, and covering front steps with stone. Sal (business owner) designed Interlock patterns, coordinated all aspects of the project, worked with the team and remained on the job throughout. Great attention to detail and meticulous. Highly skilled, professional, hardworking crew, and polite. Superior cleanup daily. Job completed on time to high standards. Highly recommend.

We first encountered Sal walking our then-newborn son past a project they were completing in our neighbourhood. The diligence and friendless of the Groundscape crew stuck with us, so a year later when it came time to look for a landscaper to overhaul our front yard we reached out to Sal, and we are very thankful we did. From our first meeting it was clear Sal was an experienced contractor who took a personal interest in all his projects and clients, and that showed throughout the entire process which included several unforeseen developments and frustrations as the project went along. At every twist and turn Sal worked tirelessly to find a solution that fit our vision. In particular, we appreciated how equally flexible Sal was pushing us in a few design choices (that worked out spectacularly) and letting us guide some material choice which I think he would agree turned out great as well. The only reason I would hesitate recommending Groundscape would be to make sure they are available for any future work we need!
