Fairbairn Home And Building Inspection

My husband and I are in the process of purchasing our very first home. It is an older home and being a new home buyer, I was worried about what can go wrong once I move-in and live there for the long-term. I looked up a few home inspectors and narrowed them down to three. Within the first 1/2 hour of meeting David at the home inspection, I knew we chose the right guy to do the job. He was able to identify areas of the house that are riskier for damages and he spent a lot of time inspecting those areas. I was along his side when he did the inspection and he walked me through every detail by explaining what and how he was inspecting an area. He is very knowledgeable and I learned A LOT about the house from top to bottom, inside and outside (especially after walking through the house with his thermal imaging!). David took his time to do the inspection. He would probe until he was able to better understand whether there could potentially be an issue or not. David helped identify serious damages in the house and he explained the matter and impact very well to me, as well as to my realtor and to the sellers' realtor when they inquired. He provided me with recommendations and the next steps to take with respect to the more serious matters. We are in the process of getting a contractor to do an estimate of the damages before removing the subjects. My husband and I can't thank David enough for his high level of attention to detail and expertise.

We will definitely choose David as our home inspector again in the future (buying or selling) and we'd be happy to refer him to anyone else.

My wife and I had the pleasure of having David from Fairbairn Inspection Services check out a home that was built in the early 80's. David is extremely knowledgeable in regards to all aspects of home building and explains things in plain English not expecting you to have been in construction business yourself for the last 10 years! He found a variety of issues of which he broke down into a list of pricey fixes, needs immediate attention and then a short term/long term list of items. I felt this is good as it's easy to go into an older home and expect having to fix everything that's wrong but David took a practical approach and made recommendations in order to accommodate our maintenance budget. Also what I felt was good was that he recommended secondary inspections when he wasn't 100% positive of the condition of something rather than giving it a pass/fail (in our case it was the foundation drain tile system as there was efflorescence on the basement cement walls). The biggest thing I liked about David is you feel comfortable around him and at ease during the whole process. The report he provided was emailed to us within 24 hours and was easy to read and understand. I will be recommending David to all my friends and family if they should ever need a home inspection.

Dave's a great home inspector. Very knowledgable in building equipment, building codes, and appliances. His inspection was very thorough and he was able to answer any questions I had. Highly recommended.

As a first time buyer l had some concerns about the house we are about to buy, l called about 10 home inspectors and l felt very comfortable talking to David he was very informative and explained me about his job and the way the inspection is done, he also sent me by email a sample of his report, he also gave me a discount and l felt very safe choosing him because he does a THERMAL inspection, l thought the price was great since l called several companies and they added an extra cost for the thermal inspection. We did the inspection on Tuesday he's ver trustworthy and knows a lot about regulations and was very helpful to learn tips, he inspected the whole unit including the attic which was in a very weird place, building garage, etc. The report was done within hours.
