NEW SERVICE

I hired Sabre Electric Co to put a new service into my home. He asked for $2500 for the job, I thought that was a lot of money but since he prides himself on having a "spotless" record I decided to go ahead with the work. I was told by Mike (the owner) that to do the rest of the house it would cost me about $15,000 and that didn't include all of the materials needed. At that point I decided to just go with the service and not do anything else in the house. About a week later after four quotes from other companies I realized that Mike was going to over charge me by over $6000.00. At this point I called in another guy to do the work. When I called Mike to ask him why the electricity hadn’t been connected which was part of my contract and payment to him, he told me that he knew that I hired someone else and that he was going to tell ESA that my new guy wasn't licensed. He also told me that he cancelled my connection because I was braking that law and all kinds off non-sense.
I would like to make one thing clear, The new guy I hired is licensed and I found him through this site.
Mike at Sabre Electric is a bitter I think because I wasn't dumb enough to over pay for his work. PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN. HE IS JUST OUT TO OVER CHARGE AND WILL MAKE YOU LIKE HARD…

Approximate cost of services:
$2,500.00

Company Response

Carla, we regret you feel this way; I would like to clarify some points about this job. Yes, we do pride ourselves on our spotless record, including honest billing and ensuring all jobs pass with the ESA. We gave you a fair price of $2150 plus HST, which you agreed upon for the new 100 Amp electrical service. We quoted you $11,500 for the rest of the house which was more than reasonable. Upon completing our work, which initially included a disconnect-and-hold request from ESA, you specifically instructed us NOT to disconnect the old service and NOT have the new service connected – an unusual request. We complied. The ESA then inspected the completed job, and you paid in full. Later certificates of the passed inspection were emailed to you. Connecting the new service would entail going back to disconnect and requesting ESA to have Toronto Hydro connect the power. As you indicated, you had a licensed electrician hired after our work was completed, so he would have used the same ESA schedule area inspector who had access to your job’s history, and could easily have requested the service connected once the wiring was completed. It is important to note that electrical contractors do not have the authority to order Toronto Hydro (or any other supply authority) to connect any service. Again we are sorry you feel this way, and we hope you can understand our position.
