Electrical Upgrade

Do not hire this company. They do sloppy work and do not operate to code. Hired them to add new panel and service to the street, including wiring a new Hot Tub.

Installed electrical to new hot tub and main circuit board on the tub melted down. The cause was the wires being incorrectly connected. When this happened and I had Beachcomber fix the tub, they showed me where the mistakes were made. They also almost walked off site, because Boss did not install GFI breaker, which is required by code. Apparently this is one of the biggest no no's in hot tub installation. When I contacted Vinay the owner, he told me that my contractor told him to skip the GFI. I challenged him on his ethics and he says he does what he is told. In addition he did not take responsibility for the wiring and told me the contractor must have went behind him and disconnected his guys work and redid himself. I was like why would he do that, there was no reason, the tub was done. What a load of crap

Not trusting his work and feeling uneasy in our house, I have brought another Electrician in to look at his job. The second electrician found loose wires on the new panel that was installed. He told me there was no excuse for an electrician not to turn the screw a few more times to make sure the connection is tight, very sloppy. On top of this the new electrician noticed there was no ground wire to the stove and wire was really old. While not Boss electrics fault, the new electrician said Boss Electrical should have brought this to my attention and recommended replacement. None of this happened. As we are getting electrical shocks from our stove since the Boss upgrade, we are now getting the wiring to the stove replaced. This part is not big deal, but we have to reopen walls that Boss had open and then pay for dry walling again.

We had permits pulled for this job and it is clear the BC Safety authority did not inspect the job. Until we had the second Electrician in we felt very nervous about the work done by Boss. So many fires start from electrical wiring. But now feel safer that a true professional has reviewed the job.

Because I had not paid for the job, I was able to deduct the $500 damage to the hot tub. Looking back, I should have demanded more. I am now out of pocket additional money. I strongly recommend that you stay away from Boss Electrical, especially if you love those that live under your roof. Electrical is not an area that should have short cuts, but Vinay and team do not appear to agree

Approximate cost of services:
$3,500.00
