Banaster and handrail installation

First off thank goodness that this was such a small project! We hired European Construction (Or whatever name they are currently going by) to take out an old banister, install a new one with metal balusters and install a hand rail going down the stairs as well. Getting the quote from this company was extremely hard, one being that there is a significant language barrier with the owner. When we finally received the quote, the price was good and we decided to go ahead. He insisted on coming on a Saturday to do the work; I was not comfortable with this, but he said the only other option was the next Saturday (a long weekend). Since I had given him a 40% deposit already I stayed home from the cottage to supervise the work. On Saturday 2 guys show up in a grey accord that I had never met before an announced they were here to do the work. I watched them quite closely as a faulty installed banister can be quite dangerous. I have some concerns about how securely they installed both the posts and balusters. They also did not bring the appropriate tools (they asked to borrow a hammer, slot screw driver and garbage bags!) and material to secure the hand rail to the common concrete wall of my semi. I caught them trying to put wood into a drilled hole on the common wall so their wood screws would "work". In the end the work was done but after me giving explicit instruction.

The other red flag about this company is the bevy of so called renovation companies that come up when you google one of the companies. I so far have found numerous others!

Approximate cost of services:
$2,000.00
