Ideal Stairs - stair recapping, stair refinishing and stair renovation in GTA

We are very pleased with the project recently completed by Ideal Stairs. They installed hardwood flooring on the entire second floor, main staircase and our basement stairs.
From the time we initiated our conversation with Rajan and his team as well as with Mesh in the showroom, we were impressed with their knowledge, customer focus, quality of workmanship, and professionalism. They laid out the project plan and gave good feedback and advice on various ideas and choices.
We had previously done our main floor and required that they match the colour on the staircase (both main stairs and basement stairs) with that on our main floor. They provided us with the samples to make our choice and helped us in narrowing down to the right colour and wood. In addition, they brought small samples with the right tone of stain to match the main floor colour and made adjustment as we had suggested. They did an amazing job of building the staircase to the right colour and the final product is excellent.
They also advised us of the current regulations with regard to the height of the pickets as our old pickets were over 40 years old and did not meet the current requirements and helped us make a good choice.
The team performed the job admirably and with professionalism and courtesy.

We obtained several quotes, Ideal Stairs being a little more expensive. The more we learned about the shortcuts taken by other companies the more we understood it would be worth it. Ideal Stairs covered the stringers with new plywood and finished this with molding. The result was a perfect edge where the riser meets the open stringer. No need for fussy moldings to hide this detail. No need for fill to hide the gaps where the existing stair tread had been cut back. Ideal Stairs made our posts to an exact measurement of 90 mm to accommodate post caps I had ordered. The supplier they use for the spindles had a huge range of choice. Mesh and Rajan were always available and accommodating, keeping us up to date on the schedule for their crew. The tradesmen were on time, worked diligently with a high level of skill. We are very happy with the result and would not hesitate to recommend them for your stair renovation.

We needed to have our stairs rebuilt and handrails added for safety reasons. The staff was great about helping us decide on what we wanted. We gave them a sample of our flooring so they could match the finish and it was an exact match. The staff were hard workers and kept everything very clean. Raj would come around to check the work and answer any questions that we had. We will definitely refer them to any friends needing work done. If I was to give 1 small area where they might improve it would be to try to tell us what time they would be there in the morning. The times always varied but the work was done well & efficiently. Thank you for a job very well done.

Professional and efficient. Very good at what they do - stairs. Good communication, clean work, excellent results. Worth every penny. Besides, both Rajan and Mesh are nice and reasonable individuals. We needed new treads and spindles for our stairs from the main floor to upstairs but wanted to keep the handrail. In addition we had this rounded off corner that still had old carpet. The job was done very professionally - all spindles are perfectly positioned - and the end-result is a beautiful stairway. The corner looks great and matches the steps and the handrail looks like new after it was refinished. I would recommend Ideal stairs to anyone.

Ideal Stairs were the only company I could find willing to custom build child safety gates to match my new stairs re build.

Living in a two story condo in the entertainment district makes it challenging to find contractors willing to do work for you unless it’s a full condo renovation. Mesh and Rajan had no issues with the job and were very prompt in responding to my request for a quote. I had been in contact with other contractors previously, none who were as prompt as Mesh and Rajan.

The work from start to finish was completed in 3 days. They kept me updated the whole way through and I am very happy with the result. The stain they matched looks bang on, I don’t think it could have been better. I would certainly recommend them to my friends.
