Bad install and customer service

I contracted Home Depot in Burlington Ontario and their supplier of Garage Doors Clopay to install my Garage doors. Their Installer was Nuno. The install was poorly done and took them 12 hours to install 2 garage doors. Nuno subcontracted a couple of amateur installers to do the work. Nuno pretty much supervised and acquired the parts for them as the job went along. The weatherstripping ends did not not match up good and light shines through the edges of the weatherstripping when doors are closed. Clopay says that is acceptable and will not redo it. 2 panels of one garage door does not mate up properly and I insist to have the panels redone with a different installer but Clopay refuses to send a new installer. They want to send Nuno back but I dont want that.

Fast, Friendly and Affordable!

I have read that many people who had a negative customer experience have gone through Home Depot. I suggest calling this company directly for service, as I had an amazing experience. Technicians Dave and Nick arrived promptly on the hour they said they would be here, completed the job in a fast time frame, made lovely conversation, showed me how to use the dishwasher, hauled away our old dishwasher, and told me to call if there are any concerns. I don't know if you can request technicians, but if you are hesitant - ask for Dave! You will not be disappointed!
*this was following a negative experience with Home Depot and their delivery - I cancelled my purchase because their customer service was so atrocious

Kitchen sink and counter - never again

There was 2 separate projects: a kitchen counter install and a kitchen sink install. There was problems with both so I will review both.

The counter installer was very friendly and I liked him a lot. He seemed very professional. It was after our sink was installed and was not draining properly that we realised the counter was not level to such an extent that we've had to raise the edges by over an inch in some places and are still struggling to fix it. This is a problem because a sink is supposed to drain, not pool water at the edges.

The sink installation was much worse. Firstly, we live two hours away and were on our way to the installation location when we got a call from a guy saying "I was booked for a sink installation, but they shouldn't have booked me because I only install dishwashers". We wasted a work day because the wrong technician was booked. They were supposed to call back and no one ever did. Then one day many weeks later I got a call from a technician saying "I'll be there in 15 minutes" and I had to say "no one ever called me to set up an appointment, I had no idea you were coming today and can't let you in in 15 minutes because it'll take me 2 hours to get there". Another many weeks goes by and we are finally booked with a technician. He arrives on time but then declares he does not have the right tools and will need to come back (another work day wasted). He comes back another day and finishes the job. We then get a call saying he was just a handyman who took the job off the job board and not a real plumber and so they want to send a real plumber to check the work. We take yet another day off work to drive 2 hours for them to check it. It turns out the handyman did not do the job correctly and we are told they will call us to set up an appointment for a plumber to fix it. We wait weeks and hear nothing. I try calling and keep getting disconnected, never getting ahold of anyone. Eventually I called another plumber and paid him hundreds of dollars to fix what we had already paid Home Depot technicians to do incorrectly. I never received a call back from Home Depot to fix the sink work the handy man never should have touched in the first place.

This is when we discover the counter needs inches of adjustment to be level. I've never complained on an online review before but I will never be using Home Depot contractors again because I'm simply not willing to waste my time and pay for jobs to be done twice. Our rental still isn't rented because we are still fixing the problem. This is unacceptable, and even more unacceptable that is nearly impossible to get through to the right person on the phone to figure things out.

Terrible system by Home Depot, it takes forever to make a cancellation

Make your life easier and work with a small company directly instead of this mess of a large company.
Before you think of using this service, I suggest you google search another company and just use them. They are cheaper, have better communication, better service and home depot doesn't get a cut from giving you a terrible customer service.

I called Home Depot a week ago for a dishwasher installation. I booked the appointment and gave them my credit card information (booked for July 29th). A couple hours later I realized I needed to book an earlier date than what Home Depot had available so I managed to find that with another company and tried to cancel with Home Depot.

I called back and they didn't have my appointment on file or anything. They said that it must not have gone through. This was the conclusion after being transferred to 5 different Home Depot departments. Its not the employee's fault but the system is so complicated that no one knows who is responsible for what.

A week later (today) i receive an email appointment confirmation that I was scheduled for July 30th which is not even the date I booked and I would be unavailable. I already finished what I needed to do and so I had to cancel this appointment where the email confirmation is more than a week late. I've been transferred 5 times already and still not reaching the right person for a refund. You have to go through two different departments to cancel the appointment and through another person to cancel the refund.

This was a terrible experience in all. I don't know why I did this to myself. but I'm putting this review out to let others know. Why waste your time and money, when there are so many better alternatives out there. This was probably one of the worst decisions I made in the last year. I'm still trying to get a refund.

August 4 Update:
Refund has still not come in even after making multiple calls and beings transferred and put on hold 8+ times just to try to get to the right person. The system is not set up to provide employees with the right directory. I called again with the number they provided and it is yet again.

They've given me order numbers and ticket numbers and when I call back, they can't even use these numbers to find my file or anything.. Again after being transferred 5 times, no progress but they said they will call me back tomorrow.

Horrible installation service

It's a horrible and extremely hassle for the garage opener installation service. I strongly recommend never buy their garage opener installation service. They use Quick Contractors. The contractor company confirmed the one week later appointment and never showed up, no notice, no reschedule. I had to wasted multiple hours from booking the service at Home Depot, following up and half a day off for nothing.

Pretend Window installation

Home Depot Installation Services are entirely dependent on the entirely incompetent Onega company who are incapable of providing professional installers.
They take no responsibility for their unprofessional approach.
Do not use these people for anything.

Interior door installation and paint

In April 2021 I purchased eight interior doors for installation. The contractor -Dave- was quick to call me back and we set up an appointment for reviewing the job. Within a week Dave and an employee were out and priced the job. An agreed-upon installation date was made and they showed up to the job site on time the first day. After which the start time would be adjusted from an hour to three hours. It is October 2021 my eighth door is on its second really bad installation with gaps all the way around! 3 of the doors installed upstairs have to be pushed closed because when they were installed into the framing on an angle so they don’t shut remotely close to nice. The job was originally quoted three days and they worked for four days and then I didn’t hear back for a month as he took another job and pushed mine to the side. The last remaining door I waited four months and he was unstable on arrival. I have asked for my money back on that door to which I have not received it. The contractor even went through personal paperwork I had in a tote in the garage! Damages my ceiling and two walls to which I had to repair. Hinges are poorly aligned and screws aren’t flush and not the right type - not sure why.

Home Depot should do audits on these contractors. That they verify to be professional.
