Under The Sun Ecological Landscaping

This is a few months late. So sorry Sal!
We had Sal and his crew do a large project in our yard. We are a fairly new build in Buckhorn with about an acre. Our yard had been a mud pit and with a steep slope. Sal did an amazing job. He is so creative and talented! From the beginning to the end the experience was a great one. Sal suggested pavers that are good quality, look fantastic and did not break the bank. We loved the design he suggested and we went with it. He is so talented and explains all and was always available for questions.
He actually suggested 3 different options that worked with our budget and could save us money. He put a beautiful patio in the yard and made stairs coming down our hill from the upper deck. He also levelled the other side of the yard as best he could with the slope we had, top soiled and used a great seed that was ecologically friendly that grows in sun and shade.
They worked so hard and in the timeline he stated.
He even followed up with us.
We honestly cannot express how happy we are. Our yard is beautiful.
When we were looking for a landscaper( we had never done this before) I was randomly calling people and he was the only person that answered. . We feel so lucky he answered. Just on the phone we liked him and then he came out to see us.
Despite all the positive things I have said about the project I can also say he is a wonderful, kind and hardworking person.
We highly recommend him.

Sal was very professional and very informative , explained every step
that was required. He said the work would take a day and 1/2 and it was just under. He cleaned up everything even the roots from a huge tree that had to be removed. I will highly recommend this company &Sal

Amazing service. We needed 14 cedar trees to be planted along the fence in the backyard. The guys showed up on time, very pleasant to talk to, and really know their stuff. We are very happy with the whole experience and will hire them for any future jobs.

Before contacting Sal, I saw his work at a friend's 2 previous homes. I got his contact info years ago for that coveted day when I could finally deal with my backyard!

That time came in the Fall of 2018, Sal provided incredible animated illustrations of what my yard would look like. It seemed dreamish, especially since my tiny Toronto backyard seemed very hillbilly-esque. It was unusable and an eyesore. After a main floor renovation, I decided to have the final project completed. Sal is a great listener and a geniuinely kind soul. He came up a plan that was feasible and found ways to reduce costs to better fit my budget.

Sal first leveled the backyard, installed decking, hardscaping, fences, air conditioning box, new gate to the laneway and built in seating(with storage for gardening tools and too many soccer balls). Sal gave us a an additional living space. Thank you!

In 2008I bought a cute but neglected bungalow in Toronto. Since the initial complete main floor reno I have been improving a myriad of outdoor problems. I initially hired Sal to rebuild my back yard fences. He noticed my upper patio was migrating down a slope to the yard and needed a retaining wall, as did one side against the fence. I would never have known that and it made a huge difference. 

I recently had him replace my front walkway (which was much more work than expected) and build a deck and shed in my back yard. The walkway is very professionally done and will last even in a wet property such as mine where things tend to sink. As before, he was able to spot and offer solutions to issues I would never have thought of and we discussed various options for all the projects. He provides detailed and complete quotes for each project and is very efficient. Even with inevitable weather-related delays he kept me up to date with intended project dates and his crew managed to complete all the work in one week. He is easy to work with and communication is top notch. He also came up with a perfect solution to my crazy weed problem on the patio (now deck).

I can't wait for next spring when we will continue improving my yard and hopefully get some good planting suggestions. (Hint) Can't thank you enough Sal and crew!

I was recommended to Sal and his business by several people in my neighbourhood. After his first detailed consultation I decided to hire him. His planning, communication, project oversight and quality of the work were excellent. Out of every professional and trade I hired and worked with while building my new home over the course of nearly 2 years, Sal was the most honest and reliable. I will always recommend him and I plan on hiring him again for a phase 2 of our landscaping plan.

We had some drainage issues with water from our driveway collecting against our house causing some cracking. We had several different contractors offer up solutions with varying prices. Sal gave us options and outlined the cost. Out of all the quotes I got his was one of the most reasonable. His workmanship was great and he left the site afterwards clean without any debris. I could not be happier.

My front yard retaining wall had nearly collapsed when I reached out to Sal. The level of proffessional service I recieved right from the start was truly exceptional.
The transformation of my front yard post completion of this project was amazing. Sal was also able to wrap up the work quickly and work around my schedule without impacting the final quality.

Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping did some work for us in the spring of 2014 to regrade our backyard and replace a very unusual front walkway made of brick chips. The regrade of the backyard was a necessary follow-up to a basement waterproofing.

When we purchased our house, the backyard was covered in flagstones and graded towards the house, with water continuously infiltrating into the basement. We asked Sal and the crew at Ecological Landscaping to take up the flagstones in the back, regrade the yard away from the house, and use some of the flagstones to replace the "brick chips" walkway in the front. We also wanted a bit of grass, a small garden shed and a flower bed around the tree in the backyard.

The did all of this beautifully, adjusting their design in back to accommodate the roots of our maple tree with a lovely curve. The hid and buried the pipe from the basement sump pump so it waters this tree. They also used some of the flagstones to build a platform for our garbage and recycling containers and a path to our shed.

Our basement is dry. The front walkway and stone steps received many compliments from neighbours as they are much more functional and add curb appeal to our house. The shade plants we put in back around the tree filled in this spring. We love to sit on our deck or at our kitchen table and enjoy our beautiful green yard with its Solomon Seal and may apples.

We are very, very pleased with the finished job and give Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping a 10 out of 10. They were easy to work with, listened to what we wanted and thoughtful about all aspects of the work, such as situating the pipe from the sump pump and respecting the roots of the tree.

The work has also been approved by the local squirrels, raccoons and worms.

It's so difficult to find a good contractor…A contractor that you can trust…

I had a "good" feeling from the start, when I met with Salvador ("Sal") and, for sure, he didn't let us down…

After going through a two story addition at the back, the backyard looked as if we would have landed in Mars…Very unwelcoming and hostile, more so because twice the basement got flooded trough the backyard…

The water came from the back alley and so, tackling the backyard's landscaping was not only matter of creating a place where we would enjoy and relax; we needed this backyard to "work with us"….

Salvador and his team (Patrick, Steven, Osvaldo and Kio) made our dream come true. They gave us solutions to all the challenges that this backyard presented to us in a very "ecological" manner…Meaning…I like nature,…I like trees,…I like "green"….and a "green" space that would protect us against "the elements" (rain…lots of it…) is what this team delivered. This backyard is also practical and a true extension of our home.

Not only we feel that the job has been done incredibly well (finishes included) but, it looks wonderful!!! It does provide so much pleasure to my eyes looking at it. It is serene…Birds are coming already into our backyard - saw a couple of Robins and Cardinals!

It's, obviously, not finished completely since the "greenery" has to be added …We want to plant a tree and some vines that would cover the pergola…but, with a bit of imagination whoever cares to take a look to these photos can "envision" the "secluded garden nook" that I always wanted…
