Chuck came and did foundation digging, membrane and weeping tile flushing. Very professional, knowledgeable and personable. Used digging equipment but left no negative trace on the yard. Spent a lot of time diagnosing the problem even at the quote stage. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend City Residential Foundation Repair. They are highly responsive, organized, and professional. More than five years after the work was completed, the owner of the company still checks in periodically to ensure everything is working properly, and he always makes time to address any concerns I may have. In the spring of 2023, water was coming through a foundation crack near a window well each time it rained. I've contacted a few foundation repair companies and Chuck was the only one who took my concern seriously and was the only one who made time to come and take a look.

Chuck is a very straight forward, tell-it-as-it-is kind of person. We looked at my concerns inside and out, provided his options and recommendations.
He provided me quotes for the options in a reasonable amount of time and continued to answer further questions I had about my situation.
There was no pressure to do any work, which is a very hard quality to find in a business these days.

The option I chose was for Chuck and his team to dig out the entire side wall and install a new waterproof membrane.
The existing waterproofing was non-existent due to poor builder quality and likely rushing the build.

Chuck and his team had their work cut-out for them. There was maybe 10 feet between the houses and they had to excavate to the basement slab, remove all the existing soil, then bring material to reinstate.
There was very minimal room for all machinery and the work was very technical and relentless. It was not just a dig and pile, it was dig and port over and over to keep the area safe and clear.

At the end of each work day, the site was left very clean and clear. The site was also protected from falls and any potential rain in the forecast.

Winter has come and gone and spring melt has come in gone. The basement has remained dry.
Although we hardly had the wild winter and spring we did last year, with the wild summer weather Ottawa has been having, I'm sure a few torrential downpours will truly put Chuck's work to the test.

Overall, City Residential Foundation Repair, led by Chuck, has been a delight to work with.
His prices are reasonable, for amount of the work that needs to be done, his team shows up on time, they took the time to complete the job (didn't feel like he rushed the job at all), and he actually is in the trenches doing the work. There aren't many owners of companies who actually are doing the hard labour, while running the company as well.

Chuck is also always available to answer questions, while work was on-going, to ensure you are comfortable with what was being done.

You can tell, Chuck is passionate about his work and treats his work as if it was for himself on his own home.

Highly recommended and will call him again for any other issues (even though I hope I never need to call him again :P).

Our basement sump pump looked like a DIY job from the previous owner. After it failed to prevent a flood during heavy rain we brought Chuck and the team in to deepen the pit and reinstall the pump correctly.

A crack in our foundation leaked water into our basement after heavy rains. Examination of the inside and outside of the basement wall revealed a crack emanating from the basement window well. The repair work was carried out quickly and without damage the garden. The costs for the repair exceeded the estimate due to unexpected problems discovered during the excavation (removing a 500 lb rock against the bottom of the foundation, video-scoping the weeping tile passage to the sump pump, and a new sump pump). The need for incurring these additional costs was clearly explained prior to carrying out the added work. Despite the higher costs encountered, I was very pleased with work and would highly recommend this company.
