Not what I had hoped for

Several years ago, I replaced the last two original single-pane windows in my house with Vinylbilt awning-style windows. I am completely happy with them, so last year I replaced four 25-year-old double-pane windows with Vinylbilt products. One was another awning-style, which is great. The other three are single-side-sliders. Big disappointment. While the glass (SSP) is great, the frames are not. They admit more air than the ones they replaced. When it's cold and windy, ice forms in the bottom corner of the fixed pane on the slider side. Air is coming in through the "seal" between the fixed and sliding panels. And in high winds and rain, water also migrates through into that corner. Definitely not what I expected from premium windows.
I guess the upshot is, if you want efficiency, stick to awning or casement windows - Vinylbilt sliders do not perform well, regardless of their published test results.
And, an added annoying thing - they only have right-hand locking tabs. If you want a left-hand-opening single-slider, they just turn the slider upside-down in the frame, so the locks are engaged when the tabs are up, not down. If you have a mix of right- and left-hand sliders, like I do, some are locked when the tabs are down, and some when they're up. Again, not what you'd expect from premium products.
