Full Ensuite Bathroom Renovation

Thank you for the wonderful renovation you and your staff did in our ensuite bathroom. The shower looks incredible and we love the heated tile floors, especially in the morning. Your advice was spot on with our own taste and the workmanship was very professional all the way thru. We look forward to now tackling the basement kitchen next year.

hardwood, counters, island

Good morning, as with previous reviews, Craig is a very good salesman, he said all the right stuff. We decided on going with Floor Decor as they could to our entire job from start to finish. We had to pay a deposit for fifty percent down on our entire job, we also signed a contract from start to finish. We are very happy with our choice of flooring , but that is where it ends. It has been five months and we had to get BC floor association involved as well as higher a lawyer to get out of this contract! Right from the start , the employees came in to rip out all the previous carpet and laminate. Once the floor installer showed up, we felt our floor still need to be cleaned up and all debris. We also paid for our furniture to be stored in our garage and this did not happen. Half way into the job we phoned Craig to complain on the job, he came out and inspected the job and said all was fine and to have faith it will be good. Well this happened four times, boards had to be replaced due to scratches, hammer marks, gouges,, cracks, improper installations, ect ect ect. We asked Craig four times to rip out the floor and restart the job, he refused. We even had the rep come out and look at the job. He also agreed that the job was not done proper. We have a report from BC floor association as well, stating the same thing. Long story short, it has been a nightmare. We have lost alot of money, we now have a floor that has to be ripped out and started over, we have no island no counters, ect ectect. Bascically we are starting all over, what a nightmare!! I would not recommend Pacific West Floor Decor to anyone!

Company Response

Margaret and Dale of Langley BC are perhaps the most difficult clients I have dealt with in 23 years. I would greatly warn any other businesses or contractors to be extremely cautious dealing with them - have them sign off of everything every step of the way and do not allow them to have access to the project site until everything is complete. We have over 600 clients per year, and thankfully the vast majority are reasonable and fantastic to do work for.

Flooring Installation

Installation is done with precision and the installer really was courteous, hard worker. Took time to do the work diligently - Floor Decor Service is reliable. Regarding the material, I can't comment right away but it looks perfect with our home decor.

Carpet and Laminate

Fantastic Service. Salesman was very professional and helped me choose flooring that suited my taste and furnishings. Installer was also very professional and friendly. Didn't feel as if I had a stranger in my house.

Will be visiting Floor Decor again for my counters in the near future.

Thanks again Ctaig and team!

Kitchen Renovation

We recently renovated our home and had new granite counters installed in our kitchen and bathrooms by Floor Decor. The service was very professional from helping us with colours to giving us advice on which type of granite would look the best. Everything was coordinated nicely including the removal of the old counters and plumbing work. We are so happy with our new kitchen. It was such a pleasure to deal with this store.

new flooring throughout home

On March 9, 2013, I wrote a contract with Floor Decor (Craig H) for approximately $13,000 to provide flooring for a rental house I was re-doing. Installation proceeded on schedule with one item outstanding - a solid wood stair-nosing transition between the roasted chestnut (red colored) flooring and the cream colored carpeting on the stairs. On August 6, 2013, Craig Hunt sent me an invoice which clearly lists the stained-to-match solid wood stair-nosing and an email saying the piece was all ready to go and that an installer would be out to put it in. After several more emails back and forth, the installer put the piece in August 15, 2013. By this time, the house was occupied by a renter and I could not immediately get in to examine the work. On August 19, 2013 I sent Craig an email that I was unhappy with the color of the bullnose. The flooring was red and the bullnose was black. Against the cream carpet, it looked decidedly out of place. I asked that it be re-stained to color match the floor, as we had agreed and as was outlined in the contract and invoice. It took 3 MONTHS of continuous emails requesting he address the problem before Craig finally agreed to send someone out to refinish the piece on NOVEMBER 4, 2013. The workman simply used a buffer to remove some of the black color in circular rings, leaving visible buffed ring marks on a now yellowish colored piece. Again, against a red floor and cream carpet, the yellow colored piece looked decidedly out-of-place. This time I contacted Craig immediately, sending him pictures and explaining that the piece was not color-matched to the flooring as we had agreed. I have sent regular emails (again), and again there was no response from Craig. Because it became obvious he had no intention of fixing the mistake, I had 3 other carpenters come in and give me estimates to have the piece re-stained to color match the floor (as I'd originally ordered). All 3 people explained that the wrong type of wood had been chosen for the piece and that an identical color match would be difficult. To provide an exact match, the piece would have to be removed and a different variety of wood used. However, that would damage the existing floor and I felt it was not a viable option. Next best option, was to color match as closely as possible understanding we would not be able to have an exact match. In January (still nothing from Craig despite repeated attempts), I hired someone else to sand off and re-stain the bullnose. The work was completed to my satisfaction Feb 2, 2014. The bill was $130. On February 3, 2014 I submitted the bill and pictures to Craig asking for reimbursement as this piece was included in the price I paid. I asked for a response within 10 days. When no response was received, I filed a complaint with the BBB. Craig was quick to respond to the BBB acknowledging that he could not color match the piece as promised and he'd be happy to provide a refund of the $130 I paid. Unfortunately, he did not follow through on his promise despite being given everything he asked for. I caution any future purchasers .... while he's a great salesman, be prepared for an uphill battle to have customer service issues resolved if they are resolved at all. I would not recommend the store.

kitchen countertop replacement

I have very mixed feelings about this company. At the beginning they said all the right things but the execution left a lot to be desired. We had an already existing backsplash that we wanted to save but we needed to get rid of our outdated countertop. They came to our house and spent an hour measuring (we even removed a small square of countertop on the right side of our stove so there would be no mystery about the measurements. On the day of installation, nothing fit properly. Even the square of countertop has to be trimmed to fit and a small portion of our backsplash had to be ripped out to get the huge piece of countertop to fit. On the plus side, the countertop is gorgeous and we love the look of it. The downside was that it didn't just slide into place. Their punctuality was not great, either. Despite the assurances of the installer that they would cover the cost of the damage to our backsplash, I never received a follow-up contact to see if I was happy with the work that was done. It was only $200 for our handyman to fix it and it wasn't worth it to me to get upset all over again to contact them. If you decide to go with this company, just be prepared to stay on top of them because once the cheque is cashed they vanish (at least they did in my case.)
