When I made the decision to gut my kitchen and partially renovate the main floor of my inner-city Tudor style home, I had a very hard time finding a designer. I wished to update my family space, yet maintain the traditional bones of the home.Some of my ideas were unconventional; I was designing for my family, not for resale.
Damian at Lindsay Contracting was willing to work with me without drawings, and took an understanding and easy going approach to my many whims and add ons. I couldn`t commit to any particulars until the walls came down. Damian and I worked together then on a layout that would maximize the space I had, as I could not increase my footprint in the kitchen. We decided to go as vertical as possible, with a mix of traditional lines and industrial bistro. The result was a beautiful, functional urban, sophisticated space with industrial-commercial elements, fitting a traditional home. As I had no drawings, and changed my mind often, this meant Damian was delayed by me at different stages of the reno, and he took it all in stride.
The main floor came together with site-finished oak floors, new crown mouldings in the dining area, and new lighting in the living room, as well as other updates throughout the main floor.
Although I love a traditional home, I wanted a living space to showcase abstract art and mid-century modern furniture designed for living.
The end result is a fabulously updated living space, that`s airy and light, yet transitions from modern to a formal yet inviting dining space and designated home office. Each room is anchored, yet updated. Partial open concept worked best for this home, and we didn`t fall prey to be being too on-trend.
Damian was great to work with. Communication on this project was key to it`s success. I could always reach him, and was grateful for his flexibility. We lived in the home during the process, a challenge for a busy family of 4, made easier by a standard of cleaning up after after each work day and working with me to ensure we were as comfortable as possible.
We are very happy with our new old home. Aesthetic beauty and livability; I would recommend Lindsay Contracting, especially if you have an older Toronto home you have to update and need a contractor that understands that you wish maintain some of the architectural integrity of your home.

This company came highly recommended and they did a great job. The owner, Damian is friendly and professional and concise with project details. The workmanship was amazing, our house looks like new again! We will definitely hire this company to do more projects as they come up.

Our basement was a casualty of the July 8/13 heavy rain in Toronto, basement flooding and resulting sewage mess left behind. This mess also included the even bigger mess and destruction/removal of everything in the basement by the insurance company's flood mitigation team.
Needless to say, the amount of work required to be performed by Lindsay Contracting, Damian Lindsay and his team was substantial.
Everything was done to our complete satisfaction and by the date required. We would not hesitate in recommending Lindsay Contracting to anyone. Thanks guys!

Damian and his team turned our dark, unfinished basement into a bright, spacious one bedroom apartment. From day one, Damian has been absolutely professional and always easy to reach.

On days where Damian was off-site, he was sure to stop-by at the end of the day or the next morning, to ensure that things were done correctly and according to our expectations. He even showed-up after 8pm a couple of times, to correct a couple of small issues he found. At least once a week, Damian would say to me "tell me what you want...we'll do it for you".

Lindsay Contracting will not be the least expensive company to quote you, but their pricing is fair and the quality of work is well worth the price.

Since the work was completed, we had nearly 50 prospective tenants visit the apartment and nearly every one of them, commented on how great the place looked and what a tremendous job our contractors did.

Even now almost 3 months later, Damian calls me every couple of weeks, to make sure that everything is in working order and answer any questions.

We would recommend Lindsay Contracting to anyone looking for quality work at a fair price.

After enduring a bad experience with my original contractor, I was very cautious moving forward on my partially renovated two storey semi. Using Homestars and word of mouth referrals, I consulted multiple top rated general contractors. As Lindsay contracting is fairly new compared to the other companies, it does not show up in the top list of Homestars results. However, the company name came highly recommended from John Oborne’s office of Oborne contracting. At first I was concerned of lack of experience (being a newer company) however, after speaking with John (who has years of experience but is always booked months in advanced), I eventually contacted Lindsay contracting and received a quote from them as well as three others general contractors.

On my first meeting, Damian Lindsay (owner) and Roy (his partner) were the only contractors who came with a camera and took pictures which was a pleasant surprise. To me, this meant business and they wanted to provide an accurate quote. Although Damian’s quote was not the cheapest of the bunch, my wife and I decided on going with Damian.

At first, we had Damian finish off one of our bathrooms to get a feel on his workmanship and customer interaction. Damian’s communication was excellent calling us at least once a day while on the job. He was careful to ask us for directions before proceeding on anything he was not sure of. For example, height of light, locations of mirrors, dimensions of shelves in the tub niche, even height and location of paper holder and towel bar. This attention to detail made us confident we made the right decision to go with Lindsay contracting.

When issues or obstacles did arise, Damian and Roy were quick to offer solutions. For example, although Damian’s tiler was fast, a section of tiles on one of the tub walls was not installed flat. Not sure if it was because the tilers were rushing or if the wall was not straight however, Damian and Roy took it off and made it right.

Damian is also very easy going as it took a month longer than anticipated to have my unusual sized bathroom vanity ordered and delivered. Damian was fine with delays and even had to modify the vanity and counter top to fit evenly.

I’m now extremely pleased to be moving forward with the rest of my renovations with Damian and his team.

Damian and all his team were amazing. Answered all my questions, addressed everything I wanted. Bathroom came out exactly how I envisioned. Now just need to get him back for the rest of our old house! A great team.

We were very happy with our bathroom renovation. Damian always came when he said he would, which was very important to us. We recently hired Lindsay Contracting to gut and re-do our upstairs 1960s bathroom which was in desperate need of a renovation. Our original intention was to plan ahead for this over a few months and book Damian and the guys in advance. However, due to a toilet leak that was coming down into our kitchen ceiling it was very important to us to start right away. Lindsay contracting was quick to assure us that they could come and get started on the job the following week.
Right from the start it was a pleasure working with their team. Damian is very good about maintaining continuous communication. As we were not living in the house at the time he made a habit of checking in almost every morning to update us on the progress as well as answer questions from us that would come up throughout the renovation. It is easy to see that Damian and the rest of his team are honest and look out for the best interests of their customers.
They did a great job gutting and installing new drywall as well installing our new bathroom fixtures and tile. They are also good at making suggestions when unexpected issues arise and I am confident that they are capable of handling whatever surprises may pop up. We are completely satisfied with the work done by Lindsay contracting and would most certainly use them again or refer them to friends/family.
