100% success rate

We've used The Home Inspectors Group to complete energy audits for incentives offered by utilities such as Enbridge Gas. Since 2014 they have delivered consistently on their word. It's hard to find reliable help and this company proves their worth and credibility with consistency and professionalism. Would highly recommend for any of their services.

Energy Audit

I had applied for the Home Winterproofing Program as offered by Enbridge Gas and was contacted by Ashley of The Home Inspectors Group who explained the program and we agreed a date to have an energy audit done on the house.
On the appointed day and at the appointed time, Joe showed up and explained in great detail what was involved and that he would submit the report of the audit to his head office and they would determine my eligibility for "improvements".
He spent about two hours doing a very thorough and comprehensive visual inspection of the house both externally and internally. He checked the insulation in the walls and the attic then ran a test with an exhaust fan to check for drafts. He was very open about what he was doing and I was very impressed with his professionalism and knowledge of heat conservation.
When he was finished he returned anything he adjusted back to the original settings and we wished him well. We had a follow up call from Ashley explaining the next steps and that we should have a decision on our eligibility in about six weeks.
Overall the work was done exactly as outlined and we are very impressed with Ashley and Joe and strongly recommend the company.

DO NOT HIRE

DO NOT HIRE! as completely ignorant to the process, we were hoodwinked! Ashley took full advantage by seemingly avoiding to educate a customer; rather having me panic with having current upgrades halted - all for nothing! We had to send numerous emails and phone calls to understand the discrepancies between enbridge guidelines ( which they repeatedly quoted) and their practices. Namely a pre-inspection report that was to outline all energy deficiencies. We were told we no not get one.....however did receive one after we expressed our dismay and exclaimed we would hold payment as work has not been completed accordingly. The next day we recieved our incompleted pre-inspection report.
No official info on what rebates we wer entitled to so your guess is better than theirs. They only will provide verbal guessamates on what they think you need rather than all upgrades that could be benificial/recommended. You have to fight with them to get the information you need to make proper choices. No customer service what so ever!
Lesson learned....certainly do not rely on TheHomeInspectors to provide any sort of customer service. They were hostile, offensive and treated us as if were insignificant ....they got their money....that was their only objective!

Home Winterproofing Program

We have always had drafts in our house and ice dams on our eves. Upon investigating the cause of major water damage from an accumulation of ice in our attic one winter a home renovator informed us that our attic is not properly insulated. After hearing about the Home Winterproofing Program we applied early this past summer. Our home energy audit was scheduled in late August. I had to be away that day. I really wish I could have been present for that inspection. The home inspector performed the audit beginning with a draft test and as far as I knew then carried out the inspection as it should have been. I doubt he could have accessed the main attic however as there was a book case in the way beneath the attic hatch. He informed my wife that he could not discuss the results of the inspection and that we would receive a new thermostat, a CO detector and a taps kit at a later date when the re-insulating work was to be done. He had her sign a release that he said was an agreement not to sell these items. She remarked that she did not have her glasses so could not read it. However, she signed it anyway. Right afterward my wife called me and explained that the inspection was done and we would be receiving these items (the CO detector and the taps kit) when the insulating work was to be done. We received our assessment by email a full month later explaining that no insulating work would be done after all. I called the Home Inspectors Group office promptly. The agent explained that re-insulating would not yield enough energy savings to to justify the cost of the work and that as long as there is at least 4-5 inches of attic insulation it is considered adequate. I have never heard of a layer that thin being considered adequate anywhere at any time. When I asked how and when we would receive our CO detector and taps kit the agent informed me then that we were given these at the time of the inspection. I infuriated my wife by actually searching the house for these. I tried contacting the home inspector and after quite a few missed calls we finally connected. On a conference call he actually told my wife that he physically gave her the items (she had told me immediately after the inspection that these would be delivered at a later date - imagine being told that you were handed something after waiting for it to be delivered to you). I thought then that there must be a copy of the signed release (I needed to read whatever it was we had 'agreed' to). I thought it must have been left here - there was no copy. The original was taken after the inspection. I had to request an emailed copy from the agent. Throughout my inquiries she repeatedly (emphasis on repeatedly) told me that they issue only one set per household as though she thought we were being untruthful and trying to get a second set. I only wanted the one set that we were supposed to have received. The Home Inspectors Group and the energy consulting firm doubtless got paid for their time. We got the disruption of the home inspection that resulted in absolutely no help with our attic and the humiliation of being treated that way. I may have forgotten to thank them for their efforts.

Enbridge Energy Rebate referral First visit

Well we started the process today. I booked the appointment on Monday and they were here on Friday! Joseph did the whole door pressure system check and went around the house advising on what he saw. Very impressed so far. I have some changes to make and we will get them back to do the final report.

Bad customer service

It's been more than six months and I still hadn't received the enbridge rebate. I tried to call the inspector several times and no one responded to me. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Terrible Service and timeliness

Had our furnace installed in Dec 2016, scheduled our first inspection with Home Energy Group immediately upon installation on the recommendation of our furnace supplier. Charles came by quickly to inspect, however was not able to give us any direct suggestions on what improvements to make to qualify for the rebate. Did not hear from him for multiple months and forgot about the whole ordeal ourselves. Finally reached out to him in October 2017 (10 months after installing our furnace) and had him come by for our 2nd audit in late October 2017. It is now the end of Feb 2018 and still have not received our rebate. What a waste of time.

Home Energy Audit

We hired Tim from the Home Inspectors Group/ Ridge Energy Consultants to do a Home Energy Audit for us. They were recommended by our Furnace company so we decided to go with them and I managed to set up the appointment fairly quickly by calling them.
Tim showed up as scheduled, setup the fan blower and walked me through in detail what he was doing. He then told me about next steps and when he should come back post installation of the new furnace. He also gave me a detailed report on potential areas to address which would help make our home more energy efficient.

Overall, we are very pleased with our experience and he helped us get the Enbridge/IESO rebates in a timely manner so I would recommend Tim and the firm.

Home energy audit

A most professional company! Our Auditor / technician Tim was most helpful and informative - offering suggestions to help us save energy AND money. He was very personable and efficient. Showed up on time and completed the audit process in about an hour. A very good experience overall.

Energy Audit

We hired the Home Inspectors Group/ Ridge Energy Consultants to come in and do a Home Energy Audit for us. The Energy Auditor called ahead to inform us he might be running late, which we really appreciated; however he ended up showing up on time. Since this is the first time we ever had something like this being done on our home, he took the time to explain what he will be doing exactly which really put our minds at ease. He was very polite and made sure to wear shoe covers and treated our home with respect. After gathering the information about our house, he ran a door blower fan, while he had it running he walked us through our house and showed us so many areas in the house where there were air leaks. It was crazy how many spots he showed us and explained how to fix those areas without having to hire someone else to do it.

Since we were applying for the Enbridge rebate; He also explained to us that there was an additional rebate we could apply for from the IESO, because we were changing our furnace and ac.
So happy we went with The Home Inspectors Group/ Ridge Energy Consultants.
